This might be the MOST FUN I've had doing an "Explained" video. James Wan's Malignant is bizarre, wacky, but just plain fun. This is my breakdown & analysis of Malignant.

*Josh Krubner asked about the electricity/super strength so I'll address it here: i only explained the lights out, but i didn't like my explanation so i cut it. During editing i thought of something: they're metaphors or symbolism. The flickering lights, lights going down or going dark is essentially Gabriel turning the lights off in Madisons brain. It happens every time he starts to take control. The electricity and the super strength are examples of Gabriels power (Madisons anger, resentment etc). That's in extreme contrast to Madison whos seems to be "Powerless" whereas Gabriel is "Powerful". Anger, fear, resentment drives Gabriel but Madison just wants to suppress her true emotions. Which is what Gabriel represents. She has to tap into her emotions and find a balance between the two. What did you think of Mad Maddy, Smushy Face Gabe and Malignant?

This is the best explanation I've seen! You're the only one that that mentioned the couch cushion. That was driving me crazy! Also, how does Gabriel/Madison open the refrigerator door??? It's not electric and it happens right in from of our eyes. Finally how does Madison see Gabriel outside her window? I'm so confused!

😆 I originally had the spaceballs alien clip side by side but it worked with just the song, so i left it as is 🤣 Thank you so much! The movie was so wild that i had so much to work with to get creative. I really tried to make this one fun and entertaining for everyone. I'm glad you liked it!

Thank you! I really appreciate that! Honestly, i think this is one of those movies where everything isn't meant to be figured out logically. I think certain things are there to help make the overall point, rather than make sense. The refrigerator door opens with Dereks back turned, so Mad/Gab could've been able to open the door and hide up in the ceiling etc. We found out that Gabriel can trick Madison into seeing what he wants her to see, so he could've very easily make her see the shadowy figure to throw her off, or Madison herself could've been seeing things. Her husband has just been killed, she saw the "killer" behind Derek and "it chased and attacked her and is on the loose", she had another miscarriage, so shes could've convinced herself that she saw a figure in the shadows.

I agree. it was such a fun movie and a great hybrid of multiple horror genres. The whole precinct fight sequence was insane! Thank you for saying that, i really appreciate it! Regarding "Mother!", I'm a huge Darren Aronofsky fan but i've to get a chance to watch that one. Once I get a chance, I'll try to review it or do an explained video for sure. Thanks for watching! Absolutely! It was like an amalgamation of like 6 or 7 movies lol and James Wan nailed it! I think the marketing didn't help, but maybe that was the plan? I think the people who didn't like it will eventually come to like it. I can't wait to rank the Nightmare movies! I'm a big fan of Freddy and the franchise, I'm excited for you to see them! Are you a Freddy fan?

@@The-boy361 definitely! If it was an unknown director and not James Wan, those same people would've loved it. If people go in with no expectations and if they knew about the homages to certain horror genres, they'd definitely like it wayyy more.

Agreed! And same!but Jason...not as much. It's a shame, i think Jasons movies could be so much better, but most of them just aren't that good. How do you feel about the Friday the 13th movies?
