Just finished it. Wtf did I just watch? This felt like some lost 80's horror movie I found on an old VHS tape in my attic. So bizarre and fascinating at the same time. Throw in some Scooby Doo elements in there and it's a pretty entertaining movie. Although I wish I could unsee some stuff that flashed before my eyes, especially in the final 40 minutes. This was honestly one of the most unique horror movies I've seen in a long time. It doesn't take itself too seriously. The music is amazing (that recurring song they use throughout the movie is SICK); you don't often see that genre of music in modern horror. It makes the movie seem a little more campy as opposed to a traditional score. But the movie does contain a more traditional movie "score" too which is also really good. I like how the jump scares are kept to a minimum

James Wan has always been a horror director, horror is where he shines the most and in my personal opinion he's only outdone himself with his last couple of horror entries. Saw is obviously a classic that kickstarted his career, Dead Silence was the only major step-down I could think of in his horror filmography and that movie is still decent enough regardless, then came along Insidious which still remains one of my favorite horror films ever and chapter 2 although not quite as good as the first still provided some interesting world building for that franchise, then he made what I think is arguably going to go down as the biggest horror classic of this generation The Conjuring, yes the universe might be a little overdone at this point but the first Conjuring is simply a time capsule of a film I still rewatch it to this day and it feels as fresh as ever and just when you thought he had peaked he somehow managed to outdo himself again with The Conjuring 2 which I would've never imagined in a million years so as mentioned he's been on an upward trajectory as far as his horror films are concerned so I'm holding my breath for this to continue that, can't wait for september!!

What a unique movie. Such an interesting watch and I’ll admit sometimes it was cheesy with the acting, dialogue, choice of music and music placement but that’s what made it fun to watch. It felt like a new and old modern horror movie at the same time. A little Alfred Hitchcock ess with a wacky (in a good way) storyline and even wackier villain. Very off the wall lol.

I don’t get that. I understand there’s people out there who watch goofy old horrors from the 70s/80s for the sake of pure novelty like “they say the original sound guy was convicted of murder”.. but for those who just want to watch a good movie, especially a horror, cheesy is not a redeeming quality. It flopped

SPOILERS: Wow what can I say about this movie, well first off it is really good James Wan did an excellent job directing this movie I thought it was really good. The best scene in this whole movie was the police station scene I really did not care for the ending though but the ending was OK. I think Gabriel might be the next Michael Myers, Jason, Chuck y, Ghost face ETC. I hope they make a sequel to this movie. If you didn’t know that they used real people who could do the whole backward thing it was not CGI and Gabriel was a prosthetic animatronics/puppet I think. At first I did think Gabriel was separated from Madison not still inside of her. At first, I thought she could see people getting killed by someone, and when they all thought Gabriel was an imaginary friend I thought that was the killer at first, then I thought of the twin scenario I was right about that but as I said did not expect him to still be attached to her alone inside the back of her head. This movie was original and I loved it. The acting, directing, special effects, and story are great. If you have not seen this movie then I recommend you do rating 5/5

I really hope the creepy dark figure we keep seeing is an _actual_ monster & doesn't, in the end for a well worn twist, turn out to be just the 'dark side' persona of the Annabelle Wallis character, in a 'Babadook' or 'Jekyll & Hyde' kind of way.
