Repaired a couple of carbon boats myself so there is an idea of what they did. But what Will did for more than half a day and Rosalin for almost 3 hours high up shaking around is outstanding! The physical and psychological stress is unbelievable. Rosalins spirit keeps the whole team up. All the best. "Und immer eine handbreit Wasser unter dem Kiel !"

Definitely an Apollo 13 moment. I'm old enough to remember that and it did spring to mind as all this drama was unfolding. As I´m doing a lot of laminating by myself - on the shore, haha - I cant get over the fact they´ve done it on top of the mast while sailing, tumbling around five meters or more. The documentation and filming is absolutely stunning - of course the repair as well! But the documentation you are providing brings the whole race to a new level. AMAZING! The issues you have to overcome in the early part of this massive leg to Brazil would normally be enough for a complete race. Thank you for letting us arm chair racers get a glimpse of what you are having to manage. It's a huge relief to see the shore crews job on the foils has paid off and you no longer have the terrible noise. Suffering from tinitus myself I feel with Rosalin and all of you. It was hard to watch the videos but we could turn those down, having no escape from it must have been horrific!

Danke für diese ausführliche Dokumentation die alle Facetten von einem komplexen Team darstellt. Es wird nichts weggelassen, alle Höhen und Tiefen werden bis ins kleinste Detail erläutert. Es zeigt auch die mentale Stärke der Boots Crew, die diese wahnsinnigen Anstrengungen auf sich nehmen. Man kann da nur freudig Dabeisein und die Seaexplorer zum Sieg animieren. Außerdem zolle ich auch meinen allergrößten Respekt für diese epische Reparatur auf dem 28 m hohen Mast bei Seegang. In diesem Sinne wünsche ich alles Gute und viel Glück für das weitere Rennen. 🤗🤗🍀⛵️👍

I love the way you have documented the journey, the race, and also the engagement with young children! ... and as someone, who has spent a fair share of time sanding down my boat in cold conditions, but on dry land, with steady ground beneath my feet, and doing the math, if the environmental conditions are met to utilize epoxy, I can only imagine what it must have been like for everyone to execute the repairs. Incredible job, enjoy racing, but most importantly: Stay safe, stay healthy, and come home with a smile on your faces :)

Will you have to repair the mast further when you arrive in Itajai? That repair was impressive.

Our boat builder were very impressed by the mast repair at sea. However, with the mast taken off the boat in Itajaí, they were able to fix it again properly and we are confident that such an incident will not happen again.
