Nice to see that you can laugh at yourself and have a good time sharing it with your viewers! Anyone whose ever done their own maintenance knows exactly how you feel when that happens.

Same tractor, last summer drained 11.5 gallons of hydraulic fluid out for full service change. Make sure you have lots of pans and containers!

Thank you for the tip! Just did this on my LS MT 357. Worked like a champ! Didn't want to deal with the mess nor drain 11.5 gallons of fluid.

CJ, I remember when you finally decided on that tractor and I gotta say buddy, 4 years later it still looks new. Keep it up and that things will be running longer than all of us

Now you know, slow down and expect the filter to come loose, you'll get tired of cleaning up the messes it makes. If that's the last time you ever drop the filter you'll be a very lucky man. Thanks for sharing with us, better luck next time. You are not the only one who has ever done that so don't let it bother you too much. Fred.

Ohhhhhh Boyeee oh Boyee!!! It's the same freakin problems when doing the PM on the mowers!!! I can never for the life of my figure out why all oil & hydro filters aren't mounted with the threads facing up to always avoid these issues. I will say that's a great idea to add vacuum pressure while you're removing the filters. I'm so excited to see you messin around with the new tractors & implements they send you Bud. Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!!!
@Mallard5plus1Farmhouse2 жыл бұрын
That's what they should do.. have them mounted upside down.. have a good one Mike!

How's she goin'? That's a neat trick to keep the oil from spilling, but just like when I do an oil change, you will spill oil no matter what!!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!!

CJ keep the videos coming, you should consider a video on to organize and a work shop in that great garage. Can't wait for spring to watch you plant and the demo on the new tractor videos.

I believe it would've worked CJ had you not dropped the filter. My hydraulic filter is in a tight spot on my John Deere. My engine oil filter is easy peasy but the hydraulic is another matter. Looking forward to your new tractor coming.

What is that ring on the back side of your forks that you have the strap going through? and where did you find it?
@Mallard5plus1Farmhouse Жыл бұрын
That came with the forks. I bought the forks at Rural King

I thought there was a check valve of some sort to shut off the flow of hydraulic fluid when taking those filters off and no vacuum would be necessary. HST and Hydraulic filters. Could be wrong but an old timer tractor mechanic told me that.. either way when i change out mine i was gonna drain into a clean 5 gallon bucket and run thru a paint strainer back into the tractor if i did lose some fluid.
@Mallard5plus1Farmhouse Жыл бұрын
Not that I know of Mark. If you ever find out more about that let me know

@Mallard5Farmhouse I may be trying it on my new mt347 in about 15 more hours of use. It may dump a bunch but I'll be ready to catch it and sure to let you know.

Why not just drill or use a sharp punch to put a hole in the bottom of the old filter and let it drain.
@Mallard5plus1Farmhouse7 ай бұрын
Because the point is to keep most of the hydraulic fluid in the tractor
