I think it is easier to pick a day to sample all of your drums into the 2xl, record them into ableton and then import them into your mpc live. Thats what i do with my AsrX and mpc 2500. I also sample vinyl into them and then sample into my mpc live/software. Do it this way gives me the sound from those machine while retaining the modern flexibility of the mpc live.

I run my tracks thru my ASR-10 and get a sound that I haven’t been able to duplicate elsewhere. Great video btw, it’s awesome to witness the various ways to achieve a unique sound.

@@malobeatsI'm still learning on the days I don't break, but you can't beat the sound on it. Just makes it all crunchy especially once you sample at lower sample rate. But I do enjoy it for the nostalgic feeling. One con is it still does bug out a little on mine but just minor stuff. I know for others it is more. But the team are always on it.

Did u try to midi sinc your mpcs? If u use the Midi-out from your Mpc2k into your Live u could record the midinotes into a miditrack an still nudge them. Then go from your midi out on the Live into the 2k to playback the pattern. I tried a similar workflow with different samplers and loved it :)

I love how u rock to your music as u adjust. I feel that…. U look like ur having fun! I appreciate your honesty on loving the sound but reminding me of the SLOW workflow of the 2000XL. I have a 1000 blue and red, but use my OG LIVE and now my X SE! Thanks for your both entertaining and informative videos. Have you tried the bit crush in your LIVE 2? If so, how does it compare to running you sounds through the 2000XL?

Great video, Malo. Rookie question: Couldn't you just use the 2000XL as a sampler? In other words, sample, for example, something from vinyl into the XL, achieve that "sound charateristic" that the XL will give you, and then sample that into the MPC Live II, and then do all the editing, chopping, adding effects, etc.? This way you have the best of both worlds: The sound of the 2000XL and the wrokflow of the Live II?
@ivokosk6168
@ivokosk6168 Жыл бұрын
The idea is to have the ease of the newer MPCs, which also means browsing sounds at a breeze - we have sample libraries of sounds and drums etc - all this could then be chosen and sent to XL... your method also works but that would regard only sampling from vinyl.
@Soulstice_Beats
@Soulstice_Beats Жыл бұрын
You could do that but you’d probably need to have the sd card upgrade on the 2000xl to do that the original has a floppy disc . You could also use something like an sp 404 , 303 , etc to color the sound as well

First of all...Love your channel man! Learnt a lot from you especially for the mpc one tutorials. Maybe i slept on this in the video, but how do i get the sound from the classic sampler (2500 in my case) into my daw? do i need an interface to do that?

Great video and dope beat! How come you didnt track out the drums individually, wouldn't that be easier for mixing/mastering? Also have you ever found the volume to be low on your MPC with sounds used on a card opposed to recording into the MPC? I LOVE my 2000XL but tracking out into Ableton is such a headache having to line up all my tracks I can trick myself into thinking it's off by the slightest

siempre me pregunte por la calidad de salida. con cualquier amplificador de guitarra o bajo , llega a su mejor sonido casi al máximo de volumen y calidez (7/10) . el mpc es igual?

Yo Malo.. i’m watching your video right now dude good stuff! But you can replace those tactile switches… Like your F5 key… I’m in the process of doing this right now I just actually bought another MPC 2000 XL and I’m going to combine the two… And then pick the best one for myself sell the other one… I have this Jamaican though there’s electrician that can do bread boards and replace tactile switches… Real good… So you need to find an electrician that can replace tactile switches on the breadboard from a machine from the 90s! Those guys are everywhere and you can get it done cheap

My Live 2 is a beas; I remember cooking up on the 1000 years ago, you’re right about nudging because it was more tedious to move a note over than it was to re-record

Why not just records the outs of the Live 2 into your XL and then straight into your DAW without assigning the samples on the pads of your XL?
@malobeats
@malobeats Жыл бұрын
This is such a great question, doing it the way you said works just as good as what I showing this video. The only reason why I went through this workflow was just to have my samples playing back in the MPC sequencer with that sample rate of the XL. However, I’ve done it the way you mentioned, and it still has a beautiful crunch to it.

@@malobeats This was one of the first things that I thought of, when I got the XL - because i was faster on FL, I thought i would just run shit through the MPC - BUT, we consulted some technician/engingeer who said it works differently when you actually save the sound into the machine and play it back, because thats where the actual conversion happens. But I am not 100% sure, if someone really know the answer let us know!
@ivokosk6168
@ivokosk6168 Жыл бұрын
Also, when you record them on the pads - you can also add more XL texture to your beats by using the filter cutoff, because on the XL that has also a very distinctive sound to it, i love how the filter sounds... - good idea is to run it more on the sample and less on your drums - they will have more power. depends on the beat if you want it more oldschool
