I love the Mamah with the cast and the Mamah with the short, light brown hair. You can tell they are both great cooks. They are always spot on with the descriptions of ingredients. I'm glad everyone liked the meals overall, although I'm not used to eating them in these combinations. I'm surprised the Ackee and Saltfish was so well received, because ackee has a very distinctive taste and texture that isn't for everyone. And, yes, our sorrel is definitely stronger! I'm more likely to drink it from a Mexican or Peruvian spot than at home. 😂 Thanks for trying our cuisine. It's some of the best in the world, and I'm so happy everyone liked it!❤

My one criticism of this channel when trying another country’s food is learning how to eat them properly to respect that culture and get the best experience of that dish. I just see foods eaten the wrong way too often. Love you Mamah! Channel but you got to research that part. The salt fish and ackee was eaten wrong. They are meant to be eaten with plantains and other stuff. A similar thing was done as well when y’all tried Filipino food. You’re supposed to eat those dishes with white rice. It’ll be like eating a taco without onions, sauces, and other fixings that make tacos amazing.

I am Puerto Rican, but my husband is Jamaican and my mother in law makes ALLL of the food in this video (give or take a few different varieties...I dont think she puts dumpling with curry goat or makes her festival look like a garlic knot...but maybe that's just her). Jamaican food has easily become one my favorites with all of the flavors and spices that they use. My mother in laws black cake is soooo delicious and now that the holidays are approaching I'm excited because I know she will make some for me. The only thing I still don't like....Sorrel.
@user-dv3kq3rm4h

Don't worry, none of us make curry goat with dumplings- it's always white rice or rice and peas. And the festival doesn't have to look like a knot, though that's cute. Often people make them long. Do you find any similarities between Jamaican and Puerto Rican food? For example rice and peas/frijoles con arroz?

😆 👏🏼 We have a saying in Spanish. “Cada cabeza es un mundo.” It roughly means every head is its own world. Each of us gives a very personal twist to our perception of the world and all the things in it. Be blessed. 🙏

In Curaçao we have similar black cake. We call it "bolo pretu" in our language. I think alot of the food is similar to other Caribbean islands. We make them too, but we have our own specialties too ❤

Sorrel is often drunk at Christmas, and often has more spices (e.g., pimento/allspice, cloves) than just the ginger. Well, everyone makes it to their own liking. It's even better with rum added

As a Jamaican this makes me so happy ❤. I will says sorrel is made from "Jamaica"/hibiscus and different people make it different ways, some with a strong ginger taste some without, and we add rum but you can have it without. We also normally have ackee and salt fish with something else not by itself, it's better as a meal. Lots of love to my mexican peoples❤

The boil dumpling or festival should be served with the ackee and saltfish. The curry goat goes with white rice or boiled green bananas. These dishes looked very well prepared, authentic and delicious😋.
@dawnb12

Festival is serve with eschoveich fish, not ackee an saltfish, ackee is eaten with fried dumplings, bread, roast breadfruit or ground provisions, it can be eaten with rice also. It is the Jamaica national dish, which is mostly eaten with fried dumplings or roast breadfruit.
