That’s where I left my frisbee! Haha, just kidding. Did an easy trip in June, 4 days on North Arm of Burntside( love Sigurd Olsen, his home turf)5 star site. Thanks for sharing!

We had an easy first few days, my husband was letting his back recover from a few weeks before the trip.

Looks like you got a great view from your campsite. I would have freaked out if I saw that snake. You were so chilled about it

We saw this type of snake a bunch of times on this trip, but this type is harmless. Once backpacking in the Smoky Mountains there was a rattlesnake next to our tent and I nearly touched it when I was picking up firewood. I felt my heart jump in that moment!

That getting up early and being away from wifi makes tweens a little cranky, especially the first couple days of wifi withdrawals.

Great fun watching. I’m sure you already thought of this but just in case you didn’t, I bring powdered milk with me. I need milk in my tea so I always have it. So if you might happen to ever think, you really wish you had milk, there’s the answer. Again fun watching. Can’t wait for the next one

Was this the 16th? If so, that was the first day of my trip too. Started out wet but turned nice later. Lots of "attitude" showing through on this vid... LOL. At least you ate well. Looking forward to the rest of the trip. Sorry to take so long to view this but I was on another trip and just returned home last night.

So great to hear from you! Hopefully your trip went well. This was the 18th. Yes, the tween years have arrived with attitude - doesn't like a lot of what I like about trips. Getting up early, paddling and portaging, getting away from phones and such, spending all the time with family. Sounds downright dreamy to me :-) We had alot of attitude the first few days of the trip but after that things felt better. I know these trips will be among her fondest memories someday when she's grown, and I know they're good for our family - so out we go!

@@MamasBasecamp Ah, ok... the day of my layover on Crooked Lake. Lots of ups and downs on my trip but, overall, it went well. The tween years, oh yeah. They too will pass and, as you said, you are creating memories that she'll carry with her for many years. Hang in there :)

Interesting. I use this EXACT route every year. I believe I have stayed on that exact site also. Toward the northern part of the lake? On the Eastern side?
@MamasBasecamp
@MamasBasecamp 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the site that is on the north end, east side, close to the portage into Little Crab. Did you stay there this year? We spent a night on Crab this year and it was an insane scramble out there with about 6 different groups looking a site at the same time around 10 am and more groups coming through later and having to move on. Actually most of the trip was busy like that. Did you experience the same this year?
