Man Builds House Inside The Mountain

Deep in the Similkameen Valley, roughly 5 kms up Hedley Creek lived a Solitary Buddhist Monk named Leon. There he built a tiny dwelling inside the mountain. It had beautifully painted walls, a wood floor and a tiny little wood stove for heat and cooking on. Leon was originally an engineer who got tired of normal everyday life and had been searching for more meaning. People would come from all over to talk with Leon, including some Hollywood folks and other notable characters. Unfortunately the cave got too damp for his bones as water was beginning to seep in the cracks, and after 16+ years he moved to a lake not far from Hedley in 2006.

Interesting find! Mountains in India have a lot of monks caves...but you wouldn't expect to find them in BC.

This is amazing what this man has done . The bridge was it a walking one .This some what looks like it might have been started as a train area because of tunnel like living area .But you said grew HIS own coffee from bush or tree in B.C.thats a 1st in B.C. for me any very nice explore on your adventure ⛏️🤔
