Chyanne’s First Solo Mission

This was the first mine we explored on our two day adventure. We got a tip from Adam, a member from a mining page on Facebook that helped us get to this location. After digging out the Portal entrance the best we could, I (Adam) still didn’t fit. I’ve never felt claustrophobic until this day and started to panic every time I tried squeezing into this tight hole. Chyanne though was brave enough to squeeze through and film this mine for all of you. Leave a comment for Chyanne, she definitely deserves it!

that would be a windlass ....love the old style cribbing on that .....yep there is water down there ..... beautiful copper sulfate , Chrysocolla and a little azurite staining from the copper deposits .... you guys need two way radios .... you did pretty good Chyanne for doing a solo run on a sketchy run... just be safe out there you two and keep'em coming .

Commodities were copper, gold, and silver. In 1910, the workings on the 6 claim property consisted of open cuts and a crosscut adit. Exploration work carried on into 1916 and included opencuts, winzes, and 3 adits totalling over 79 metres of underground workings. In 1917-18, 33 tones of ore were shipped from this property. 1 oz of gold, 37 oz of silver, and 6,705 pounds of copper were recovered. The mine and surrounding claims are currently owned by New Gold Inc, in Toronto.

I focus mostly on research and locating. I dont have a video camera or KZbin channel, so thank you for filming this for Adam and Samantha. It was last filmed about 10 years ago with a very poor quality camera. (a potato?) Those 2 uprights over the shaft held a windlass to haul the buckets of ore up from the lower levels. The Maxine is 1 of 138 historic mines in the Kamloops area I researched this year. This project was for Samantha the bat researcher. Ron

That squeeze at the entrance would stop most of us amateur explorers so kudos to you for making it in! It would be interesting to have an O2 meter to see what the actual level is in this one. I've had my Honeywell version alarm when going over similar terrain - climbing over than dropping back down again. The natural air movement doesn't circulate over obstacles like this. Nice to see that entire level though!

Hello! Haha yes, was a little tight to get in lol Yes, we do carry one and it didn’t make a peep. We have ours set to go off at anything below 19.6. But, we have had it go off before up in the Mascot and at the Giant Copper Mine in Manning Park.

The GMC is looking great. Does it have the 6.0? What beautiful country you are in. I am looking at the terrain at 3:32 and already wish I was there. Darn that looks a little tight at 5:24 , I may have had to open it up somehow or pass on it but it looks like was worth your hard efforts. Great job Chyanne on your first solo. I was nervous the whole time Chyanne was in there! What would have been the plan if she got injured and needed rescuing? I would not want to squeeze in the hole and then get stuck or even manage to get through and then not get out again. When I was a kid I did some sketchy stuff like squeezing into tight spaces, but now that I'm older, I've turned into a chicken😁 Thanks for the great video of the inside there!

First part of the plan was crucial and that was that I wouldn’t get hurt and need rescuing!! But in all honesty, I don’t push my luck, that’s why I didn’t climb that ladder up the raise, it was too steep and I pictured myself falling right down into the winze lol That being said, Adam could have squeezed in if he absolutely needed to. The problem was getting out. There was no room to wiggle and your feet were hanging w nothing to push off of and no room to bend your legs to help push. I could have pushed or pulled him out if I went out first, but it was easier for him to pull me out and made more sense for me to just go :) We’ll do the squeezing in to stuff for u now :)

I just dug out a shaft on the Island with not much more clearance than that. But the adit opens up ALOT inside. I’ll be able to crawl in easy after another hour of digging. Video on my channel coming soon! That’s a great mine! Pretty solid, good echo!
