He has a gigantic hit with Oppenheimer and he could have cashed in with $20 million dollar pay days doing mainstream action crap, but goes right back to indie films instead. Respect!

Curious to know how many of those children were reunited with their mothers. Surely some of them found a way, despite the efforts to separate them.

Cillian should seriously get an Oscar for this one too. The end of the movie is so heart wrenching. You have no idea what happens. The Magdalene Sisters is another film that takes on those depraved, cruel, nuns. This film is softer, but no less frightening.

This was so sad. It's still the case that women are far more likely to be punished for "indecency" when their male partners rarely face punishment

healing energy to all those girls and women,that were finally freed from those twisted nuns in those wretched places. some were "freed" through death, like the mass grave they found in the mother and baby home in tuam. r.i.p. many of those girls were there because they'd been abused, which, according to those in power then, the church, was their fault - when it never was.

Women weren't unequivocally allowed on US juries till, finally, 1994, when a prosecutor used all his strikes to come up with an all-female jury. There'd been court cases for decades, but prior to the 70s, the mere idea of women on juries aroused raging contempt.
@tablescissors5 күн бұрын
Yet many men (of all kinds) will still scream that women are absolutely equal and have zero entitlement to anything like “reparations”. Not that this is a functional solution to anything, but the historical injustices of women are just outright dismissed.

those magdelene laundries were evil , and as you said, 1998 is not even that long ago for that to be going on. the government gives a repartition of some measly amount to them, something like 38 a week -i could be wrong on the amount, either way, it's not enough for the torment they were put through.

Citizen - the issue is global and it’s a male-focused problem. Certainly women having multiple abortions before they’re even thirty - as if it’s literally just birth control isn’t a viable solution either; many women are even causing themselves serious bodily harm and sterilizing themselves by doing so (despite there being a great deal of access to various forms of genuine birth control, including FREE from public health sources in many regions).

It just pains me to see and learn of what the church has done in the name of Christianity. There has been documentation of babies and children killed or sold by Nuns. And, the Church covering up these acts. Doesn't the Bible, GOD's WORD, teach of grace and mercy. Baby's are born innocent.❤❤❤
