Man of Steel is my DEFINITIVE Super-Man

With the marketing around James Gunns Superman film starting up, I wanted to get my thoughts out on my personal favorite version of the character. I think Snyder really did do something special with the Man of Steel, even if the franchise spiraled out of control afterwards.

This IS Superman, none of that wishy washy tree-hugger defeat the bad guys sing kumbaya stuff of the G and PG days.

I honestly think that Man of Steel wasn't even close to being the definitive Superman. It took too much away from Superman, didn't really challenge the character, doesn't give a reason as to why Clark Kent even wants to be Superman, and has a terrible foundation for Superman's character. The Jonathan Kent "maybe" scene alone goes against everything Superman stood for and against basic human decency. Plus, Jonathan Kent's death scene really summed up the overall problem with the film. Jonathan Kent's death was completely forced and could have been easily avoided, just as a lot of the conflict with the kryptonians was completely forced and could have been avoided. Zod's death, in particular, is completely forced. If the other kryptonians were sent back to the phantom zone, Zod could have easily been written to be sent back too. Superman killing Zod doesn't come across as a no choice scenario. Only a forced choice scenario that just ruins Superman's character, and he doesn't even learn from it. The are iterations of Superman that can be considered the definitive version of the character.

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone. The reasons why it isn't the definitive superman for you are the reason why it is for me tho.

​@@gruntyfilms259I honestly can't see how you can see this misguided interpretation of Superman as a definitive version of the character with just the Jonathan Kent scenes alone being against everything Superman stands for. To each their own. I will never see Zack's misguided version of Superman as a definitive version of Superman. It just isn't Superman. It never was, and it never will be.
