Fortunately my mum didn't need to pay to repatriate my carcass after that burger challenge, but it was touch and go for a while...
Today we're paying a visit to Johnny's Favourite Eatery in Oshawa, ON because back in 2021, after I knocked off their burger challenge, I promised the owner I'd be back one day for their 'Hungry Man' breakfast challenge! I'm a man of my word...

They give out VOUCHERS. It's basically a LOSS LEADER in marketing terms. The expectation is that the "winners" will bring other customers with them when they come in with that coupon for Breakfast#1 (not the challenge one)... Because the guy doing it for the 5th time PAID that 25$ for basically 5$ worth of ingredients EVERY TIME, they STILL make good money. Pancakes and home fries are a great filler because they cost almost nothing to make, but they fill a belly and a plate real nice. It's a pretty savvy ownership, compared to the other ones I saw in his challenges. Not HARD to beat, but it has added marketing value.
@Voycey19

Man I felt that cinnamon error. I once was at a teppanyaki place eating a sushi roll (my first one ever) and looked at a side on the plate and went "ooooh ham" and stuffed a huge slice of pickled ginger in my mouth. And I said the same thing. "I don't know why I thought it would be ham..."

I knew a lady once who made a similar mistake. She went with a group of us to a sushi bar and mistook the wasabi for avocado. She thought it was pureed avocado. Put a great big Honkin lump of it on her sushi roll and put the whole thing in her mouth. Her reaction was absolutely and entirely satisfactory in every single particular. It’s been years and I still chuckle about it every single time I remember.

Regular American bacon is side bacon and comes from the pigs belly. Most Canadians would also call regular side bacon, bacon since it's probably what 90% would eat for breakfast. Canadian or peameal bacon is cut from the pigs loin, the same place you would get a boneless pork loin chop. They roll the loin in cornmeal and cure it and that's peameal/canadian bacon.

The hilarious thing is, if he’s never seen any of your videos… He doesn’t realize that this is an appetizer for you. This is not a big meal compared to a lot of what you eat. Looking at it, I think I could finish that meal. I don’t eat a lot, but if I was hungry, I don’t think I’d have an issue eating all of that. In any case, I hope all is well and you have a wonderful 2024. Be safe and merry And keep entertaining us the way you do. Thank you.

To answer your question, "bacon" is cut from the side of the pig, outside the ribs, and smoked and thin sliced. It is rather fatty and I think in the UK you call it streaky bacon. "Peal Meal Bacon" is made from the loin and is very lean. It's cured and then rolled in corn meal these days.

I live in Oshawa, this challenge & the burger challenge is merely for coupon & t shirt, its not a timed challenge its merely finish it & your good to go. I think your videos are amazing but these challenges are the norm for you, much smaller. That being said Johnny's has amazing food & the serving sizes are awesome. Can't wait to see many more of your videos.

The man tackles a challenge meal and then buys himself a dessert for the road. That's a flex right there. I've only tried one challenge meal and I failed. The burger was too much for me. I took the leftovers home, and it lasted me three more days. The burger's name was K2. After a mountain.
