** SUMMARY **
Man’s Search For Meaning sold over 10 million copies and became one of the-most influential books in the world. During the holocaust in the 1940’s, Viktor Frankl spent 3 years as a prisoner in the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps. His wife, father, mother, and brother died in these camps. He was faced with extreme hunger, debilitating illnesses, and brutal living conditions. Yet unlike the prisoners around him, he somehow managed to find hope and meaning during one of the most catastrophic events in human history.

4:08 - LESSON 2:
Love Is The Ultimate And Highest Goal To Which A Man Can Aspire

My favorite quote from the book is: "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." Regarding lesson 1, another thing that stuck with me was the sure sign that someone had given up which was when they smoked their cigarettes. And indeed, within a couple of days they died.

Frankyl envisioned himself after the war, lecturing to students about the horrors he had suffered. Interestingly, he didn't intend "Man's Search for Meaning" to be his Opus, yet many people only know him for this work.

Overall a great video, but one of your opening remarks is way off. You say that "unlike the prisoners around him, he somehow managed to find hope and meaning...". The entire point of the first half of the book is that Frankl observed the power of meaning in those around him in the camps. Sure, he himself utilized this but to say that none of the other prisoners had a will to live would, by Frankl's logic, mean that nobody but him would have survived.
