Managing Hero Lineups for Troop Boosts: Puzzles and Survival

I often get asked what are the best heroes especially for setting up your troops and for defending your sanctuary. This video covers which heroes you should use where and why! I don't often say you should do things exactly as I do them, but in this case, I do recommend having the heroes set up how I do. Now I really have to go and move some heros around. I thought I was using the heros to my best advantage. After watching this I'm not so sure anymore. So helpful! I have rider based troops combined with rider heroes but the lowest lvl rider hero ( above lv 131) doesn’t activate its tactical skill in lair rallies etc. Is this a synergy problem?

No its not a synergy problem. The fact is only 4 heroes per troop type can activate their tactical skill damage. Not entirely sure why this limit exists but that's why.

I don't consider the economy set to be as crucial as the military or balance sets but if you have a personal preference then absolutely adjust accordingly.

Hey just wondering if any follow-up has been done on the troop boost hero idea? I like to think I know what to do with certain heroes but I want to maximize my attacks and don't know if a troop hero of a different type(say meyers at +5 red star with his epic Mace of terror +100% troop boost when I'm a rider based) would be better to use than dom. I don't pay much attention to wall because I don't often get hit.(though I know he would be better for defense against shooters) I run Fox +7 red star(common innoculator), mars +5 red star(rare Phoenix helm), reyn +5, dom +5, and obsidian+5 red star(rare power fist)

There has been mixed results. My recommendation is to try both and see which works best for you.

One thing for rallies (lairs or attacking/holding other objectives), a maximum of four boosts will fire for each troop type. So if there will be other troop types in your march, you will miss out on the tactical damage from one hero slot if you use the line-ups you are suggesting. So you would want to eventually replace the sub-par 4* hero (the one that doesn't boost HP so Sanguine, Griffin, and Dom) with a +6 or higher troop boost hero to take advantage of the extra tactical skill use as long as that troop type is present in your march. You should be able to see this in the ruins

Great tip! I didn't know there was a 4 boost cap on tactical skill damage. That would explain why I was seeing that in ruins. I also didnt specify in the video but if you are not solo specializing then of course mixing the heros to match the troops would be more effective. This of course as you said would then make it a smarter choice to put in a higher troop boost hero matching the troop type. Thanx so much for adding this!

@@ValenceRing It's not even about your own mixed marches. I'm fighter based, but I run Mars as a troop hero since he's +7, I just make sure someone sends a solo rider to activate his tactical skill for lairs or other rallies

@@Counttom90 Sort of, it does 500% of the troop damage. It's not actually boosting the troops, it's just doing a burst equal to 500% of that troop type's ATK valuie. So 1 or 350k, it doesn't make a difference

I noticed in one of your videos that you could upgrade troops from one tier to the next. Is that an ability that needs to be unlocked? If so, at what level?

Sorry they actually changed this. Now you can only upgrade from the tier your troop is to the highest tier of that type you have. It's the up arrow next to the troop type in the upper left corner of the screen

For riders, what is your thoughts of Doc Gray over Percival? Percival boosts all rider stats and a bigger tactical skill than Doc

Why would you use Barbie over Noct - Also from doing PvE ive noticed that heroes like Griffin dont activate their Tactical skill in a Shooter based line up (or is that just a bug ive encountered) . Great tip on the Wall, I didnt think of that.

So noct is better than barbie. I forgot to check all my heroes before shooting so that was my mistake. I have 3 heroes that arent leveled up enough to unlock their last skill which wins noct Percival and bard. So in my case barbie is better but noct is the correct choice. Make sure hes leveled up enough of course. As for the tactical skill damage, I have heard it is a bug and I have heard also that only 4 heroes in a lineup can target a specific troop type. I havent been able to confirm this. So I am not sure which it is.

I use Noct instead of Zeph.. my noct is 5* my Zeph is only 2.. I find until Zeph is boosted to atcleast 4 , noct is better ... am I wrong?

@@tooflycreations6267 you are probably right. And that is a great point. Obviously your lineup should have the best heroes you have for that particular lineup even if they arent the ideal lineup. So as you level up heroes you can adjust your lineups based on what works best to increase your stats. The one big point is if possible each hero should only be used once across all lineups and your wall and should match the troops you have deployed in that lineup. Everything else is what works best for you.

Lol.. I literally just tested this prior to your response!! So because Barbie +5 has a 500+ boost attack, I use her instead of Zephyr +2.. and it works. I went from a 29 lair and was able to clear a 30. The line up is Ulrick (Red star) sanguine (+5), Seo (+5),Barbie (+5), Noct (+5). I've heard that Tomoyo is also a beast on a fighter team but I've chosen to not attain her yet .. I actually dont know why, I just dont *Like* her 😅😅 I used your advice for my wall!! And I watched another video on which you said to use the same colour fighters for special ops & include Leah as she will give you 4 extra hits at the end and I came 13th!!! So HUGE thanks for that tip - do you have any tips for UC because sometimes u get stuck for weeks 😫... P.s thanks for replying!! Have a great day

Really great info! Question, does anyone know how to use the Enhanced hero skills? I’ve been playing this for the past month and a half and now I have a handful of hero’s but can’t perform their skills outside of their primary. Like I haven’t been able to perform Griffins Dauntless move. Anyone know how? Thanks.

The skills are automatic. If you have them unlocked then they all go at the same time (some are passive). But there isn't any way to pick or choose the skill. You can think of it like a combo attack. Good luck!

Alright so I have a similar lineup. Ulrik, zephyr, Meyers, Seo Yun, and Noct, but I switched Noct For Requiem and this does more damage for some reason despite the stats, despite Requiem being shooter. And Yes Noct has higher numbers at 25% than Requiem but maybe it has to do w nanoweapon factors and 5 stars just being overall higher than 3s.

I do have a question, I've been playing for some time and have a pretty stacked march with full heroes for Riders. Obsidian +6, Fox +7, Dom, Reyn, and I use Requiem and not Mars, as I have her at +6 and he is not, even if I get him to +6 the stats are the same, am I missing out on anything based on the fact that she is shooter based and he a rider? If so, what am I missing out on? Thanks again 👍

No you aren't missing anything using requiem instead of Mars. Actually it's probably better to use requiem because only 4 heroes of the same troop type can use their tactical skill damage anyways. So if someone sends a shooter to your rally it will activate requiems tactical skill while if you use Mars one of your heroes will never use their tactical skill.

I have red star Requiem in my fighter lineup, but replace 100 fighters with shooters to trigger her tactical skill. that a good amount of shooter units, or go more or less??

I'd experiment with it. Probably not enough troops because they may die too soon before her tactical skill is used. I'd recommend at least 1k

Lol I do make mistakes in videos sometimes. Sorry about that. As for meyers I was playing around with the different line up prior to the video and was alternating him into my fighter lineup. When I switched him out I forgot to put him back in the wall. I totally recommend using him in the wall. But a lot of your hero choices are going to be based on what level they are and what you are trying to do. Sorry for the mistake! And yes noct is the better choice I just dont have him leveled up enough so when I was checking the stats barbie was the better choice at the time. But noct is the better choice if leveled up correctly.

@@ValenceRing interesting point about the wall & Meyers vs the 3* fighter heroes. Meyers +5 red star gives 40% troop boost compared to Barbie or Noct +5 25% fighter boosts. Actually building a fighter only lineup now & was planning to stick Meyers in as the 5th hero (over the 3* ones). I should keep the wall in mind, too though!

The wall is definitely important. Your main troop type should probably be set to your best heroes for that lineup though. There should be enough 5* troop boost heroes available now to save 1 for your main troop type and have a full wall.

We have a member running tests on a rally using the shooter lineup shown in the video. Level 36 lair full shooter and everyone joins with 1 rider. When using the lineup shown in video a 44% is received with requium +6. When swapping requium for Malcolm +5 the results in a 50% pass. How can this be when requium gives more boost than malcolm?

I have one question for you. I have Dom(4 stars ,+5, lvl 210) that has 50% boost for riders attack and deff, and I have Mars(5 stars, +4, lvl 311, with his Nano weapon on him, Rare Phoneix Helm, 5 stars, +8) and with all of that he gives troop boost around 75% for attack, deff and hp. Somehow with Dom my riders have more might then with Mars, but how is that possible? Can you explain to me that, is that because somehow Nano weapons dont work or what? Thanks.

Not sure. Most likely case is that the nanoweapons arent showing up as a might calculation. I would ask customer service it may be something they need to correct. I would go more by what kind of damage is done. The might is more of a guage and doesnt actually indicate which lineup is going to be more effective. So test with both and go with the better result.

I have a question in your shooter line you have Requiem the boost taktikal damage ..and you say only 4 heros boost the self option ....but in your other lines you have only heros the boost attack ?? Why that ?? when only 4 heros boost the self why you don´t have in the other lines heros with taktikal damage too ?? And my second question was for what was the vehicles in this game ...only for collecting or for save the Santurary ?? I sent it allways to collecting Ressourcen than I don´t know what can I make with them Was very helpfull if you can explain me that Regards Thomas

Vehicles are predominantly used for gathering or for backup troops in your sanctuary.

So does your hero drive your troops or do you just go with a troop type based on how you like to play? I started focusing on fighters just because I got Ulrich but now got a bunch of riders so I may chance over to rider. Is that the right approach or should I just stick with my troops as fighters

It's okay to switch. Ultimately the best long term strategy is a balanced approach. You should never neglect any troop type. It's just easy to gain an advantage early on by focusing your upgrades on one type of troop or another. If you find yourself stronger in one area then switch. As you grow it's okay to switch as often as needed. Good luck!

If in the event, you don't have Phoenix and Atropos.. who would be the best alternative heroes for those areas?

McCarty is the substitute for Phoenix. And any rage stealer can replace Atropos. If you need purple specific though Eve is a good alternative because she is a strong healer and also boosts the rage Regen rate of your team. Good luck!

I ran a test today in which I had Ulrik/Zephyr both on the wall & in my fighter March. I sent the fighter march out (with Ulrik/Zephyr) went back to my sanctuary, checked the wall, and it still showed Ulrik/Zephyr as being in the wall. Is that a visual glitch? I expected they may disappear from my wall due to no longer being idle.

They have to be idle. Yes they still show in your wall even if you send them in a march. But I've tested it thoroughly. if you are attacked while they are out in a march then they will be replaced by idle heroes.

Instead of having marches based one one troops type... what about balanced marches? With all three fighter shooter and rider.

There may be some value to that especially later in game. The reason many people go with 1 troop types (occasionally 2) is that it's much easier during the early/middle game stages to put all your upgrades towards only one troop type to get the highest stats possible for at least one march. Later in game if you are strong in 2 or 3 troops then this can be a helpful tactic. I prefer a balanced approach myself but still lead with 1 troop type.

I dont know if you have one.. or if you can just type here but in a balanced march what heros are best, because in any war game I always try to grow my troops balanced but this is the first one where heros made such a differance.

For a balanced lineup (dont have a video yet) I recommend one of each of your strongest for each specific troop (like obsidian or fox for riders, ephraim for shooters, ulrik or zephyr for fighters) and 2 of your strongest troop stat heroes (meyers, requiem, mars, marlowe etc... devana is a good option if she is better than your 5 stars). But today is a good day to test your hero lineups in ruins for a balanced set as the troops you are given are balanced. So whatever your best hero lineup for ruins today is, is the best lineup you currently have for a balanced lineup. Plus you can experiment as much as you want at no cost.

Sure thing! Eventually troop boost heroes would be the best option all around but it takes a while to get them strong enough to be as effective. So definitely play around with it and adjust as needed.

Noct is by far better than Barbie for Fighters. Hp is a better stat than def. He gives all 3 compared to 2 from Barbie. Also, 500% tactical boost only applies in rallies. Regardless of troops/heroes.

Not sure if I agree that HP is better than defense. Attack is always the best stat. As for tactical skill unless you have proof otherwise tactical skill applies to any and all troop based battles with heroes.

You're not using the best 3* heroes there, Percival > Doc Gray, Noct > Barbie. Great Video though. Also you're not using your Meyers can put in the fighter March instead of Barbie or instead of Devana on the wall.

I haven't finished levelling Percival and Noct for the 3rd troop boost which is why I hadn't used them yet. And I orginally had meyers in the wall but was trying him in my fighter lineup since I didnt have zephyr very strong. Put him back in the wall.

Don't agree with this and I've tested it myself. I even wrote the company to verify. The troop boost, means troop boost, it doesn't have to be a specific type. I have an epic weapon with Req+4 and she adds her tactical troop boosts for AND the weapon. The troop boosts are troops boosts. Anyone in the march, period.

Yes her troop boosts work for all troops since it is a troop boost. However, you will notice at the top of the troop skills it mentions "Tactical Skill Damage". To be clear tactical skill is only activated when there are the same troop types in the march as the hero type. In addition only 4 of th same troop type can be activated. So 5 shooter type heroes will only ever allow 4 heroes to use their tactical skill but putting in a fighter or rider based hero requires a corresponding troop type matching that hero type to activate that heroes tactical skill.
