The work and pensions secretary, Therese Coffey, has said she will not publish five official reports into how the department handles helping the vulnerable, or how many people have died as a result of being denied disability benefits. The publication of these reports was promised by Coffey’s predecessors, following claims that thousands of disabled people had died since the Conservatives came into power in 2010. The true number still isn’t known, but it was found that over 17,000 people died between 2013 and 2019 whilst waiting for decisions to be made over their benefit claims. In 2020, we learned that 5,000 disabled people died still waiting to be reimbursed by the government to the tune of £16m in underpaid benefits

Thatcher's privatisation. It should never have happened. Competition will keep prices down we were told. At that time on holiday near York I could go to York but the last bus back was 6.30pm. The privatised bus companies didn't want to run a service for a few people. Not even one bus an hour. The bosses get top money and bonuses and shareholders make money and we struggle to pay bills.

We have seen more students struggling and it certainly isn't going to improve.

Enough is Enough. 42 years on the Laissez-faire economic model of neorealism has clearly not seen the money trickle down at all. Sir Saintly Starmer is only willing to continue the same philosophy if he gets into power. And I am sad to say that as a Labour voter.
@eXzile812 жыл бұрын
Laissez-faire with 25% green tax and massive regulation.. you're living in cloud Cuckoo land. Then you have government directly protecting these companies with a 30% corporation ring-fence tax, first capital allowances and investment allowances, massive government interference stifling competition and increasing prices as a direct result of their policies that's putting aside the actual politics in regards to lobbying for example.. what you claim is totally insane against the facts. Lastly, trickle down theory is not an economic theory, it's a political hack phrase used as a caricature, in other words the argument really is not that that you should put more money in the hands of the wealthy. Its also part of a zero-sum conception of the economy, there's a thought that if you cut tax rates on the rich then there'll be less taxes for the government or you'll have to raise the taxes on other people to make up the difference or cut programs, this is utterly provably wrong.

Having just heard LBC blatantly advertising BP on their station I thought I’d ring them to express my disgust at their hypocrisy. They’ve spent months correctly vilifying the company but are more than willing to dance with the devil when it suits. Needless to say I didn’t get on air 😡 Anyone who listens to the station regularly would have had the misfortune to hear ‘Sean’ from consett in North East as I am too in Middlesbrough. He can barely string a sentence together yet constantly allowed on, and the reason imo is to perpetuate the narrative that people from the North East are knuckle dragging monosyllabic buffoons. Please stop looking side ways at people in the same situation as you (they may look or behave possibly a little different to you) as the problem. Please start looking up! In the 2021/2022 fiscal year, over one third of the UK's GDP was produced from tax and other receipts. The total was 915Bn. This is 39% of the UK GDP. Income tax was the largest individual contributor to that number with NI contributions in second. However, there are so many other things that are taxed. VAT on goods, Council Tax, Fuel duty, Capital Gains Tax. Those are the four biggest things that affect individuals after income and NI taxes. People are struggling to pay for fuel! If fuel does not get addressed then how the hell are people supposed to live in order to work and pay enough to keep the country and it's infrastructures running!? Gov will be moaning about future net GDP if they do not check themselves and will know thier days in power are numbered when people simply can't even get access to the basic needs in order to live. But right now they're too busy vying to gain power with only empty words that will only mean something when action is taken with results to benefit the people that they represent, which is everyone! Dispicable

Honestly, hearing people talking openly about nationalising services, acknowledging the disastrous, real world impact privatisation has had on far too many people while it benefits far too few for all the wrong reasons chokes me up, just a bit. Human and animal life over a profit line, is what this boils down to.
