There is a parallel between Din Djarin and Grogu during the forging process. In Season 1, Din goes through his trauma as a child before being rescued while the armored is forging his beskar. Now Grogu is going through reliving his trauma during the forging process. I think that they may be implying that this forging process is not only literal, but metaphorical process to forge the hearts of mandalorians after their traumas.

Mando even tells him that he needs to "focus," but it's funny because he was using a ton of focus just then by holding all the crabs from leaving. Din and Visla give me such an Obi Wan and Anikan vibe. They are natural rivals and powerful mandalorians respected by the rest of their kind. Visla knows he was destined for great things, wants more and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. He could be the future antagonist for this series. Just like how Anikan truly wanted the best for his people but was selfish and used dark methods to achieve them which ultimately made him bad. Din is just naturally gifted with an obligation to uphold and protect the creed. He has a will to survive even under the worst circumstances, and with out question jumps in between chaos and innocents, much like our favorite jedi master…

Got nothing against him, but don't y'all think his directed episodes are some of the worst? The Siege in S1 and now this episode...I know it's a team effort so can't fully blame script, storyboard, cinematography, choreography, etc. on him but I think those things have now been at their worst in his episodes and it can't be chance can it? The quality has felt so uneven this season. Mines of Mandalore was mostly amazing, especially on cinematography, character design, and action. Convert was great with plot. But Ep 1 and this one (esp. beach and Navaro scenes) just seem so, so bad in terms of script, cinematography, and overall production value. Ship CGI are almost always on point though, for that I appreciate.
@Jake_E57 Жыл бұрын
Bo Katan lead the hunting party not because she did all that badass stuff before, but because she had the idea to chase the bat creature with her ship and find out it's lair. She did the recon to figure out to get the foundling back. I also think she's not so much looking to take over Mandalore again as much as she is struggling with her identity as a Mandalorian. She tried to be part of the militant Death Watch, she tried to lead Mandalore, she's been all these things and failed at them all, but now when she didn't believe she saw someone who did. She's heard the creed and those who take it to heart, she's seen the Mythosaur, she's had her home destroyed, she's been welcomed into the Covert and was given lead of the hunting party. So far this season the Mandalorian story lines have been heavily about her.
@apricity69 Жыл бұрын

Couple of extra bits of interest: When the Mandalorians are sparring the submission word is “sufficient” which is the word used in English purring or shin-kicking contests. One thing that strongly struck me while watching this episode was the contract between how the Jedi treated their padawans, and how the Mandalorians treated their foundlings. The Jedi taught their children to detach themselves and suppress their feelings. The Mandalorians trained their children to connect to each other as a community and work through their feelings. The armorer took Grogu by the hand and taught him about the forge and how it reveals the flaws within the steel. I firmly believe that at this point, when Grogu has a flashback, it is Grogu working through his emotional past.

Shooting into the water is actually a good idea with the blasters. They are testing their blaster's sights and recoil. If you can consistently hit the same spot for an extended period then your blaster needs minimal tuning but if you find yourself having to continuely readjust your aim then you need to tune your blaster. Also the Raptor babies now give us a really good indicator as to how much time has passed as we have now seen them as hatchlings so we would expect that next time we see them they'll have some change.

Bo and Din keep being posed together side by side and they are both there supporting Grogu. We see Grogu receive his armor piece that's just like his dad's Din armor. Shiny and Mudhorn symbol. Din jumps at the opportunity to go with, support, backup Bo. They trust and respect each other. After seeing the Mythosaur, Bo no longer sees Din as foolish for believing the old way, but now she really respects Din and his dedication. Then after the mission, Bo loses a piece of her armor. It is replaced and looks just like Din armor. Slowly showing they are becoming one/couple

The scene with the Armourer and Bo-Katan was perfect. Bo's exasperated, child-like 'it was real!' was her saying 'no, no, not like some hocus pocus cultist bs, I really saw one', and the Armourer's knowing 'this is the way' reply was really saying 'of course, none of this is fairy tale, it's all real, we believe it, and if you thought otherwise you're in for a wild ride kid'.
@harryevans1111 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think the armorer was being faithful, I think she already knew about the mythosaur. She had no surprise, and she already had water from Mandalore in season 1. She sent Din there to die, and he returned with: -the darksaber -the former leader of her people -a Jedi/Mandalorian foundling -a mythosaur sighting So that’s why she just accepted Bo Katan with him into the covert after spending 2 seasons talking trash about her mistakes. She thinks it’s a sign from god or the universe or whatever. Or she’s plotting.

The forge also made Din recall his childhood trauma in the first episode of the series. Oh and it is most definitely not the same space gator from the first episode of the season, Din blew that one to bits.

Calling it now. Had the thought as I watched this video. In the finale of the season, Bo Katan challenges Din for the Dark Saber at the Sacred Waters with the Armorer as judge. Somehow, during the duel, the Dark Saber breaks. Then, the duel is interrupted by the Mythosaur. After a battle where both Din and Bo get incapacitated by the Mythosaur, Grogu uses the Force to tame the Mythosaur, and it recedes to the depths. The Armorer gathers the broken pieces of the Dark Saber and uses them to craft a small Dark Saber for Grogu. Proclaiming him the future Leader of the Mandolorians. He speak his first words This is the Way.

That’s the thing with sects. From the outside the seem nice and alluring, they provide a sense of belonging, companionship and family. But deep down most of them are rotten to the core. They force you to cut ties to you now non believing friends and family, they force their way of life and world views upon you, where a differing opinion could mean exposition or other forms of “torture” in order to make you rethink your ways. Sects crush individualism and thrive on obedience, blind obedience at that. So while a sect may seem “cool” never trust them. Not on your life. Edit: This is literally what they did to Din. He broke their norms (took his helmet off), so they cast him away. They took from him what he needs most, a sense of belonging / family. He is desperate for that and w/o that he goes crazy. Now when he returned to the sect, he’s even more extreme, even more faithful. They “tortured” him back into submission and frankly now that I see it this way (yes when I wrote this comment I came to this epiphany) I hate this sect of the Mandos.

Hummingbirds don't generally eat worms -- they do catch tiny flying insects and the occasional little spider, but not large insect larvae and annelids (yes, hummingbirds need protein, kids; they don't _only_ drink nectar, and they do feed their babies little arthropods).

I'm a casual Star Wars fan, I've not watched any of the animated stuff but really enjoy the breakdowns here that delve into the series that I've missed to fill in the gaps! Also I didn't mind that Mando and Grogu reunited in Book of Boba Fett, maybe I'm alone in that but this is an extended universe like the MCU I guess so I don't think it's out there for storylines to progress within other characters shows. Really enjoyed this series so far!
@thegiantpenguin9651 Жыл бұрын
I've really appreciate all the Jewish symbolism in the show, and Ryan noting them in his breakdowns, but one very VERY VERY important clarification, is that Jewish Halacha is practiced by all orthodox Jews, all over the world, many of whom live in large cities, and are also regular 9-5 professional. The isolationist 'Anti-Zionist Ultra orthodox' Jews he's referring to are a subset of a subset of a subset of the Jewish world. So it's super important that if you see a Jewish person with a beard and black hat, who keeps strict Torah law, walking down the street in New York, that does NOT immediately mean that are a xenophobic zealot. Chances are, they could work at a small business, vote liberal, and are just trying to get through life one day at a time like everyone else. I know he was just repeating what he was told, but I really hope Ryan sees this comment and clarifies in his next video what he meant to because I would hate for people's take away that the only Jews who follow Halacha are extremists 😥
@ImprentaRaddiana Жыл бұрын
Important comment - when Ryan made that point it also struck me as deeply incorrect: naive at best and very ignorant at worst. He should try to tread more carefully when making comparisons like this in future episodes, and research the facts about modern Judaism more deeply.
@tzipky Жыл бұрын
Agreed, gotta be very careful of perpetuating gross stereotypes.
@TheDanLevy Жыл бұрын
Yup! I really hope @screencrush addresses this I was so confused when he mentioned the anti-Zionist part and then didn't really explain the connection. Saying Ultra Orthodox Jews would have been sufficient Also, a nitpick - only married Orthodox Jewish women cover their hair while all Orthodox Jewish men regardless of age or marital status wear a kipah or head covering
