Hi everyone! I'm starting a new game on the channel: God of War! I'm so excited to finally play this game as I have heard it is amazing. It has a such strong start and I'm ready to fall in love with it. I'm so intrigued and invested already!

For anyone who hasn't played the original games I just want to say: this is Kratos being nice and calm - more than he's ever been 😆 I was SHOCKED when he gave the Stranger another warning after being hit in the face.

This game saved Kratos as a character for me. I was done with the franchise after GoW3 for reasons I won't disclose but GoW (2018) and Ragnarok made me love him.

The Nornir chests with the blue runes on them, you just smash the corresponding seal with your axe or fists, as these have upgrades in them

Tip. When an enemy swings,just block. Dodging is cool,but block is just block quickly. Also break everything. Breaking buckets "vases and anything just break it. If you see letters to open a chest just swing and break it. Just finished watching. You're so damn fun and awesome. I can wait for episode 2. 😃👍

Great video! Look forward to watching more! In case you haven't learned already 51:00 trying to 'find' Baldur as he moves around. Pushing R3 will lock onto an enemy so you're always facing them.

Looking forward to this and Ragnarok, If you're going to continue with stepping out of your comfort zone, you'd probably love the Yakuza series (starting with Yakuza 0.) I played Yakuza 7 a little bit after beating Rebirth and it completely threw me off finishing my backlog. I planned on playing FFVI for the first time but instead I'm going through each game in the Yakuza series chronologically for the first time.

In case you want to know about the older God of War games, you can read below. ↓↓ Long story short: After the old god of war Ares trick Kratos into killing his own family cause the gods fear him, Kratos gains power to kill each of them in return, including his backstabbing father Zeus, and Athena an ally who resented him later. Long story: Kratos, a well-known Spartan general from the Greek pantheon, became feared by the gods as he carried a legacy so powerful he could end their reign. So they ended up using Kratos to their advantage. To spare his life in a near death battle, Ares the old god of war made Kratos' Blades of Chaos to forge a deal, Kratos' life for his servitude. But to have nothing stand in his way, Ares tricked Kratos into killing his family during a bloodthirsty rampage Ares had put on Kratos, so Kratos vows revenge against Ares and sought to kill him using Pandora's box power. (God of War 1) And since the gods still disregard him and toss him aside, Kratos regains himself with the help of the gods enemies the Titans to kill Zeus. But he accidentally killed ally turned protective goddess Athena, and after being backstabbed by his father Zeus the king of the gods using the Blade of Olympus, he turns the tide and wages war against the Olympian gods. (God of War 2) Kratos destroys the entire Greek pantheon in the process and kills all the gods and titans there that stood in his way, including Zeus as his finale. Athena in spirit-risen form then resented him for sacrificing himself his god-killing powers 'Hope' to humanity. (God of War 3)

I see this playthrough will be a gem among all those GoW playthroughs out there. I'm excited for this journey :D And IF interested a tiny but important hint to ease combat a bit: ------------------------------------- You can lock on to enemies, so you won't lose sight to them while dodging around. Just press the right joystick to turn it on and off. It's easy to miss the hint for that, the game mentions it once for a few seconds and thats it.

It's better to block than to dodge/roll. Almost all of the enemy attacks can be blocked especially those projectiles. Even the revenant's poison can be blocked.

You made a good choice keeping it on balanced. I think playing any game on normal is all that is needed. There's no reason for anyone to play on any other level above normal unless they just want too. 👍

I've played them all. Part 3 and 2 are my favorites. I love this game I'm o.g. badass player when I play these and the "Uncharted Franchise. All I can say is explore and be aggressive and most of all just enjoy yourself and have fun. Can't wait to experience this with you. 💐👏

Remember SEARCH look around and destroy everything nornir chests give you upgrades for health and rage when you destroy the seals remember be adventurous there’s a lot of stuff that’ll help you on your journey!

I think you are gonna love it. It's not as different as a FF16 I would say. One of my favorite games (after Remake and Bloodborne) of PS4, and I just played GoW1 and half of GoW3 I think.

1 Gauge I use to know if I playthrough will be good is skipping to the first troll fight... 90% of "lets players" stand back and turn that fight into an axe throwing massacre. Which is SOO painful to watch. You did not, and did the fight properly. Well done 👏

Technically it began in God of War Ascension, it's the first game chronologically in the story. Just saying 😂. There's actually a comic that goes back even further. Whether it's the new games or the old games, I always love seeing new people play my favorite franchise.

It's honestly not all that different from what you've been playing. The combat is pretty easy to get into, the story and characters are interesting, there's a crafting and upgrade system etc. Only thing you'll have to get really used to is all of the specials being on a cool down as opposed to using magic.

I recommend re-caping the earlier God of War games to understand Kratos. Trust me, then you will understand this game.
