I really like that you tend to do these playthroughs in a more casual way than a lot of other challenge run channels. There's still clearly a lot of effort and research, but not to the hyper-optimized "everything but doing damage range calcs" and planning to turbo-grind levels way a lot of other channels seem to do, which is kinda nice, even though I like those other more intense styles too! It helps the challenges feel more approachable as something to try for someone who doesn't literally do this as their job while still providing info that said more casual player might need or want to keep in mind for their attempts at the idea! ^v^ Also this particular challenge for a playthrough is just a lot of fun in general. Working with limited but diverse resources is a good puzzle.

Honestly, I've never defeated Reshiram or Zekrom because of the fact that they're mandatory to catch. What happens if you knock them out? Does it give you a Game Over? It's kind of embarrassing that I don't know this, lmao. Gen 5 is both my favorite Generation and the Generation I started with, so the fact that I still don't know what happens is probably odd.

@@brendansage6876 If you KO it, the battle ends but you have to battle him again until you do catch him. I've heard that it was technically possible to avoid this by making your PC full of pokemon, which would prevent you from catching it and you could catch it later (after beating the game). You might think this one would require catching a lot of pokemons but you could also breed pokemons until you have no more room, I don't think you'd need to even hatch the eggs...

Nostalgic memories here. Pokemon Platinum and HG/SS are my favorite mainline games ever. Even if I played every generation since 1999 to this day and also love Crystal and Emerald I think Gen 4 has the best games I have all my files (Diamond, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver) from the time I bought them together with my DSi and 3DS and love to sometimes do a new run, trade breeded Pokemon between them to try new teams in a Sinnoh/Johto run

For the first challenge in Pokémon Platinum where he named his team members after people from the Bible makes me very pleased. As a devout Christian of 10 years, and as a Pokémon fan, this really does make me happy!! 😊 My favorite team member has to be Levi. Because, not only is Levi named after the Leviathon mentioned in Isaiah 27:1, but I also think he could be named after one of the brothers of Joseph that was sold into slavery in Egypt. if michael makes another no catch playthrough, i'd be so down

I don't think another is possible, In X&Y it's impossible you HAVE to catch the legendary to move on, same with BW. BW2 has less then 6 Pokémon for gifts, you could try but you'd need to start with Oshawott. Sword and Shield are also out since you need to catch Eternatus. Let's go cannot be done, you need 50 caught Pokémon to enter Koga's gym. Scarlet and Violet have very few gifts also. FRLG would be the only legitimate ones left to do.

@@DryBones271 True...and Gen 1 and 2 aren't as good compared to their remakes. But yeah, FRLG is the only choice...options consisting of a Starter, Magikarp (to evolve to Gyarados), an Eevee you can evolve, Lapras, and one of the Hitmons....oh yeah and one of the fossils. (A type overlap is pretty much inevitable though, you're gonna be stuck with at least two water types) That said, if you want a flyer, you're gonna have to use Aerodactyl. As for other possible options? RSE is doable...but again you're not gonna be able to get a team of 6, no not even 5 pokemon actually. Only your starter, one of the fossils, a Wynaut if you want to have Wobuffet (Which can only deal damage if taken damage using Mirror Coat or Counter), and Castform...just four and you're gonna have to use the water starter since it can learn the HMs. That SAID...the biggest pile of frustration with this no catching run is severe moveset constraints and no Pokemon you can teach Fly to. It's doable, but there's severe limitations. You're also right about BW2 having less than 6 pokemon as gifts...less than even four actually. Only your starter (which has to be Oshawott), a Zorua, and Deerling. It might be doable but like with RSE, it will be extremely frustrating, if not more so with one less team member. tldr: FRLG really is the only legitimate one left to do where you can get a full team and you can have a team that allows you to better navigate around.
