Mandy, your family is just a blessing to watch. I'm from the "older generation". Seldom used a recipe, except for baking. I'm from "scratch town". I've loved your recipes! So do my men. One of the hardest parts of ADULTING, is coming up with “what's for dinner tonight?" We've been married for 53 years. That's a LOT of dinners. 2 received a Crock-Pot/slow cooker as a wedding present. Seldom ever used it. I now have a newer addition, and YOU taught me what to do with it. Oh, the time I could have saved when I was still working. Love you all, And your Christian values.

These are great ideas Mandy! You can always dice up onions or peppers that are getting old and keep them in a bag in the freezer. Right now I have a couple cups of diced pin the freezer. Great to add to eggs or soups or chili or anything.

Nooooooooo, never put oil in the water for the pasta! 😮 the oil will prevent any sauces to ‘stick’ or ‘absorb’ to the pasta! Put a wooden spoon over the pot while the pasta is cooking, that will prevent the boil over 🙂. Also, you’re supposed to put a very generous amount of salt into the water as well. 💜🌸💜 greetings from Florida!

Correct, do not add oil to the boiling water for pasta. I am a New Yorker, and adding oil will prevent your sauce, whichever kind of sauce you may be using, from adhering to your pasta. Which is why you never rinse your pasta when you are making a hot Italian Dish. You need the starch
@Estranged180
@Estranged180 11 ай бұрын
T.B.D. = Tonight's Best Dinner. Also, most times when you're about to use one of those Italian dressings, I've found that going for the Tuscan House Italian dressing holds up better, because once you shake it, it takes awhile to separate, and holds other things in suspension a little better (like pesto, for instance)

I like plates with sections so that my food doesn't touch. Some things I don't mind, like if my roll touches my ham or something like that. But I don't want my roll touching beans or my mashed potatoes to touch my corn or whatever. I have sectioned plates at home, of course, and my mama has some for me at her house and so does my mother-in-law. And if it's a big family gathering we usually have throw away sectioned plates anyway so it's not a problem. Not that I would complain or make a big deal if there wasn't sectioned plates because I would never do that. I'd just do the best I could keeping my food separated.😊🍽🍱 Sometimes when I see y'all (or anyone else) on KZbin fixing a plate of food, I'm thinking "Oh no! Your green beans (or whatever) are going to touch your mac & cheese (or whatever)! 🤪 I know this probably seems random but when Steven was talking about his Grandpa's bowl of food all mixed together, I was thinking NOPE! Not me! And a quick question.........for the brown rice, what kind of rice do you use? I'm assuming NOT Minute rice?

Two years ago I started to chop up (using the same chopper that you have, lol) onions, green and red peppers, celery and carrots and put individually in zip lock bags in my freezer. I usually do 6 or 8 of each: onions and peppers, a large bag of celery and carrots. I will usually do one veggie on a slow afternoon. This way I usually always have chopped veggies on hand and it saves a lot of time!

I make a similar dish like the last one and call it Tex-Mex Cornbread Casserole. Also if you lay a spoon across your pot it should keep your pasta from boiling over, it doesn't necessarily need to be a wooden spoon. I use my silicone spoons and it works well too. I just don't boil my pasta on a high temperature, after the water starts boiling I turn it down to medium. I hope this helps you. Have a blessed weekend! 💕

I don’t want to say how many times I played back that chicken squirting across the table. I laughed until my sides hurt. His face 😂.

To keep water from boiling over- lay a wooden spoon across top of water pan. Great meal for thrown together. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon

I make something similar and call it Tamale Pie. I know it isn't super accurate but I make it to use up leftover taco meat and burrito bowl fixings.

I have always wanted to try chicken sausage but haven't as yet. What brand is yours? It looks really good and would love to try the brand you used. Give Miss Gracie a hug from me please. She is a sweetie.

The cornbread shepherds pie might look cuter if you put some of the cheese on top... and as for a name... the pilgrims used to modify dishes with corn instead of wheat or potatoes and then call it "indian" whatever... so ... indian shepherds pie? Or just cornbread shepherds pie to be more politically correct.

Oh my! Never add oil to pasta water. The oil will prevent the dressing or pasta sauce from clinging to the pasta. I’m sure that there are many Italian cooks who are shaking their heads and cringing right now.

Putting oil in your pasta water is a big No No. It makes your pasta slippery and your sauce doesn't stick to your pasta, it just slides right off your pasta.

I use onion and garlic in almost all recipes. I started buying a bag of already peeled garlic in my produce section. Then I keep it in the freezer and just take out how much I need. It thaws fast and is so easy.

I think the name should be Mandy's special. it's polite to burp after a meal. It's a sign of good food. At least that's what I say in response to a burp.😮

Can you do your mommas rice in the " instant pot " or crockpot? If you can, for how long? And my name for your meal is tex-mex in a jiffy casserole

When just throwing stuff together do you smell spices to see if they would compliment the recipe your doing? The stuffing crusted chicken sounds pretty good.

Lay a wooden spoon across the pot. Works better and your pasta sauce (if you are using) will still “stick “ to the pasta…

I dice up my onions and freeze them. I live alone and so many onions were going bad on me. So I got a 2 gallon bag, then filled it up with smaller bags of onions. As I need them I get out a bag and throw it on the kitchen floor to break the frost and seperate them.

Hi Mandy & Steve ! I was so impressed by the cube steak recipe. Absolutely loved it and your right you don’t need teeth to eat it. Definitely making it again . The pantry recipes look delicious too! The taco meal can be called taco shepherd pie. . Not original! I know . But that’s what it reminded me of . Have a. Blessed day!

I chop extra onions, put them on a Dollar Tree small cookie sheet & spread them out in a single layer, 1 hr later, put them in a zip lock bag & that way I cn get small amount or as much as I want at one time.
