Even if there is a single word in Japanese which means "sister-like female relative", the translators of the dub are responsible to use a reasonable English idiom to express both content and context. I'd have no problem with "stepsister" (which conveys both content and context), nor with "sister-like female relative" (which conveys content only, but is at least not flat-out false).
