Yeah, even if he won the coinflip all it would do is dely the cap for a turn and then he would have to completely wipe out that infantry to prevent the cap as it would be at 19. The only units he had that could reinforce in time were just infantry and a single Anti-Air and GG had 3 tanks and 3 battlecopters right there.

It seemed like he focused almost everything on the north, and then in a single turn just got utterly clapped. It was just kind of bleeding out after that.

All he had on the start of his turn, was trapped BCopter, an anti air still in the base, 3 injured vehicles, and infantry. What are you going to do with that. North is about to be based locked and taken as well.

At 14:26 Hawke has to delete the medium tank for an Anti-Air, and he didn't even get powercharge. So he just lost 16k value for nothing, and that's a whole turn of income almost. Wonder if he misclicked that build?

He was worried about the nearby tank hitting the anti air hard enough that the copters could finish it. An MD tank could at least sit on the base and not immediately die, avoiding a base lock. But this strategy ignored that the battle copters could just box the tank in.

I didn't notice that until I saw his Anti-Air and went "Huh? Did he delete the MD?!" and scrolled back to check. He didn't even take a cursory potshot at the B-Copters or anything, even though it was free charge! I think he may have been distracted, or maybe inebriated.

If you have the damage calculator open, you can just hover over a unit and press A and D to set the attacking and defending units. It’s way quicker and more comfortable!

He sacced the infantry to deny to tower for one turn to get power and to be the first to capture a tower for his attack since the other player hadn't captured a tower at this point. The infantry at this point served its purpose, it captured buildings. He sacced it like a pawn in chess.

What I love about this map is that its use of naval terrain and units best approximates what it would be like to have military train units in AW - moving along a grid of narrow lines, light trains able to access most of the map, heavy war trains boxed into the corners, and most rails traversable by ground units. Piperunners r cool, but eat your hearts out!

Grimm guy is like IHEARTJUSTICE player from Marvel vs Capcom 3. He chose a low tier (Phoenix Wright) but that Low Tier became undisputed Top 1 IF you meets certain condition (Hit an Objection with 3 good Evidences to get Turnabout Mode). Granted though, Phoenix Wright was surprisingly Tanky (1 mil HP where most of the cast ranged between 800K to 900K HP. Heck, Akuma, Vergil and Dante got LOWER HP than this lawyer for some reason) for him being a lawyer instead of a fighter.

Yeah that was rough! I was thinking maybe Matth could build missiles on the top right base to try and free the med tank, but he's still in a really bad spot either way. He pretty much loses control of the top side of the map, and it delays any non-infantry purchases for the bottom side to build the missiles. Just a testament to how beautiful that first Knuckleduster push was!

@@ElvenNoble missiles would've been picked off by copters. Arty/rocket could probably help a bit against the ground force since they can't cross the mountain, but missile would've been decimated due to their minimum range.

@@VNYoshi Doesn't matter if they get picked off by the copters, as it still forces them off the base trap, which lets the med tank escape or attack something it can deal real damage to. Combine this with a followup anti air after the missiles to hit the copters that attack the missiles and you're stopping the copters from re-trapping again. It's still a losing battle as you need your own copter to keep reinforcing copters from reblocking, but it's better than the play that was done to delete med and build anti air, as the 8 hp tank + 2 copters kills the antiair and then the base is blocked and permanently lost. (note that Grimm Guy doesn't even pursue that play because he doesn't need to block it immediately--if he can bait more unit deletions and rebuilds out of it, he's just bleeding free money from his opponent's coffer)

Fun Fact an Eagle Bomber with 1 comm tower will do 91%-98% to an Andy tank on a City. A Grimm Battle Copter with 1 comm tower will do 53% - 60% to an Andy tank on a City. Assuming a full health Tank it will require 2 shots from both to break through. 2 Battle Copters Cost less than 1 Bomber. Grimm has very good Battle Copters as the defense penalty does not matter as much with them.

I watch Advance Wars stuff for fun, very glad I found it from randomly being recommended your channel. Grimm Guy's clearly got a _very solid_ grip on the game, and as only a viewer, I very much do not. Guarantee I'd lose no matter what CO I have, but I wouldn't expect GG to have an interest in such a match anyway. But it'd still be funny.
