roxy_unicorn well I haven't used too many dye brands, and everyone's hair is different, but I do know that when me and my friends used splat, it used to fade quickly. I use manic panic a lot now, and that fades pretty quickly too. Make sure that whatever dye you use, it's semi permanent.. or anything but permanent!! I made the HUGE mistake of putting Sparks permanent dye in my hair mixed with manic panic and now I can't get this crap out 😭😭

I wouldn't count manic panic out just yet, I had the exact same problem with the ultra violet but their rockabilly blue lasted so long in my hair it was crazy. I'm going to see if perhaps it is merely that color purple and not the entire purple line of manic panic that fades so quickly so hopefully that isn't the case.

Every single manic panic color I have done always washes out in two weeks. Doesn't matter what shade. Yes it's always been on bleached hair. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

@@lillian88ledesma Not really...Like the first 2 days you might see it a little bit on certain colored clothes but it doesn't bleed like manic panic and other products I've used. PLUS it like never fades! I dyed my hair with Purple Rain at the beginning of December and it hasn't faded at all (and I wash my hair pretty often)!

Yeah, pinks and purples wash out much quicker than blues and greens, so it's difficult to do a side by side comparison.

I used manic panic's atomic turquois and it only lasted about two weeks with a pretty brigth turqois color but after that it was green for like another week and then it stayed at a really pale greenish color. So I'm pretty sure it's the brand and not the color.

Also, I just wash my hair once a week because it doesn't get greasy and disgusting before 7 to 8 days. my base color was really ligth blond because I bleached it. and I applied it without any conditioner. just to give you some perspective.

I recently dyed my hair green with a mix of Manic Panic's siren song, electric lizard, and a little bit of voodoo blue near the roots. I left it on for a good hour and I have washed it 3 times. Literally nothing has changed. No fading at all. I washed with hot water and regular shampoo, too.

Voodoo blue is great. By far the longest lasting manic panic for my hair. Even outlasted vampire red.

The blue is going to last longer because blue pigment generally lasts the longest and it stains the cuticle. Purple (no matter how cool toned) still has some red in it which cuts down the lasting power.

I also love how Arctic fox fades. I wash my hair every day because i've yet to find a dry shampoo that doesn't make my scalp itch, and the color does fade a bit faster for me that way, but the colors stay really pretty as they fade.

one reason the manic panic faded as fast as it did is because for some reason the Ultra Violate FADES HELLA QUICK just from sunlight, that's where the silvery tone comes from. Just wanted to put that out there haha not that it makes much of a difference

Special effects is a pretty great dye too. Been using them for years. The only color I've been not super happy with is napalm which is a bright orange color and fades faster then others which I've had for months in my hair.

why does red have to be so tough!? I was told it's the biggest color molecule so it fades fastest, I had a friend who swore by splat brand red.... her hair was great and didn't fry but I've also read splat has mixed reviews too

Splat fried my hair when I tried to use it. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, but it's different for everyone's hair. I've heard that Manic Panic's reds work very well.

Honestly for my hair using manic panic it depends on how much you wash it out, Ive used the manic Panic midnight blue and it does fade out after a while like a couple weeks but one thing that I was using was dry shampoo and not washing it out, then when the midnight got faded I went in with a purple and it made this really pretty berry pink

It also depends on how much you wash it, i go 2 weeks and dry shampoo is my best friend. I also shower in super cold water and use color protecting and sulfate free shampoo. I'm gonna try manic panic to cover up a patch of blond where unfortunately a previous color didn't hold too well.

I'm but going to try fox next, I used manic panic for a split one side ultra violet the other atomic turquoise. The turquoise looked very dark blue at first then super quickly faded to a light green that won't go away, the purple came out after 2 washes and you can't even tell I had it in at all

try brite. its vegan and its made in a Australia. i dyed my hair the purple in feb 2017 and now we're in April 2017 and its bearly even faded, it has started to fade but its still very purple, same with the red, depending how much you wash your hair, it sticks to your hair but fades nicely. and they are cheap, they are about $10AU i don't knoe how much they would be for you, but out of all the vegans brite is the cheapest ive seen. i hope you give them a try.

Thanks for posting a video about this. I am looking into possibly trying a different brand other than Manic Panic. However, this sounds so inaccurate. There is no way it washed out to that point after 2 washes. I dyed my hair 2 months ago with Manic Panic & mine isn't anywhere near as light as yours. It's in between the two colours you have but closer to the brighter one. I use about 95% Atomic Turquoise & 5% After Midnight, maybe a tiny bit more After Midnight. I don't accurately measure & it varies slightly each time. Why is it blue not purple? This just doesn't sound right at all. You said this isn't paid but it really sounds like this is a sponsored video. The only chance this has of being true is that reds fade really quickly if you spend a lot of time in the sun. This happens with absolutely any hair dye, even permanent dyes. As you used purple on one side & blue on the other it's impossible to say if that was the issue. However, considering that there is only blue left in your hair that is a possibility & would explain why the left over is blue not purple. That however isn't the fault of the dye. I recommend a hat & less sun exposure. The same thing happens if you leave anything at all that is red outside in the sun. This happens because it absorbs higher energy (shorter wavelength) light. Blue however lasts the longest so this is a very inaccurate test.

Manic panic faded that bad in only two washes?? Wow that's quick... I've never tried Manic Panic, I've juts used Arctic Fox, Iro Iro and one color from Raw (Hot Topic) and they all last really well! from green to blue is a SUPER easy change, I recommend washing with gobs of cheap shampoo for a week or so prior to a new color (soak in a bath too if you feel like treating yourself) ... this will strip out the maximum amount of green. the only distortion you should get from green to blue is that your first few dyes my be slightly teal.

Actually I almost did what you said, used anti dandruff shampoo with baking soda and vitamin C to wear out the green and then applied a combination of midnight and neon blue from directions, came out amazing! It's a deep blue with teal-ish and purple-ish highlights. Thanks for your reply!

Via Naturals Gemstone line lasts so well and faded so nicely. I used their emerald and it is the only mossy Kelly green I've ever found. I got it at a beauty supply and a 4 oz bottle was less than $5. Definitely a good buy!

Ugh I just used artic fox! And i don’t care for the color selection. I want denim blue/navy blue but night quite dark. I mix aquamarine and posiedon to make it more blue and it’s still way to green toned.. ugh the struggle i wanted to try manic panic next lol and I shower everyday.. I can’t skip it’s gross and I just do it. Maybe miss one wash a week but that it so i put it in my conditioner.. last time I did splat and it worked great might just use that brand..

Arctic Fox lasts sooo long in your hair if you take care of it. I can get two months in before I need to re dye it. But even then the faded color isn't bad. I use a mixture of Purple Rain with a touch Transylvania so I can achieve a dark purple. Never trying another dye again!

Any purple in artic fox and manic panic wash out very quickly. Most blues, greens, reds, and oranges in both brands keep for longer. I've used manic panic most of my teens in the early 2000's. My teen daughters both use manic panic. One used 2 reds mixed together and it is still going strong after 6 months with only some retouching to the ends every now and then. The other used violet at first and it came out very quickly. Then she used voodoo blue and it is just as bright as it was a couple months ago. Manic panic also makes bleached damaged hair healthier.

My experience with arctic fox was that some of the colors fade reasonably like virgin pink or wrath, but aquamarine did not come out of my hair at all. I had to go to a salon to get it fixed. This was my experience, I can’t speak for anyone else, but beware with aquamarine

Okay so, I got manic panic hair dye at Sally's beauty supplies in the color 'Siren Song' and I bleached my hair and mixed the manic panic hair dye with conditioner and left it in my hair for 3 hours, washed it out.... IT DIDN'T STAY now I'm left with blond and some faded green at the roots, I'm getting arctic fox 😂 i guess I used manic panic wrong

Thank you so much! I was searching for something like this for ages! I tried Manic Panic because I've heard so much great stuff about it. But at the end, my hair was a rainbow. In dark and white light, it was such a nice blue, exactly the blue I wanted. But when I went outside, exposing my hair to the sunlight, it was just dark green! I was a bit dissapointed. I then tried to find another vegan hair dye and found Arctic Fox. But before I buy that, I wan't to watch some reviews :)

your manic panic side looks like a faded blue rather than faded ultraviolet, i dont get it...did you have some blue on there before or??

This is fairly common with hair color. It’s just how the dye fades. Many colors have an undertone color. Ultraviolet is a bluey kind of purple, and blues tend to stick better than pinks/reds. The pink parts of the pigment wash off first, leaving the blues behind to fade slower.

right, but i actually just dyed my hair ultraviolet like a month ago and it faded into light purple and then silver and then blonde, no blue..so i was confused.
