I turned 26 in March and I relate with Hailey’s first point. I figured a way to love my good AND bad. I’ve been doing kinda well considering my circumstances. I still live with my parents and I’ve found a way to deal with my depression. I track my cycle so I can predict my moods. I might have PMDD. Or not. But it’s interesting to see the patterns. I found hobbies apart from what my family usually does. I started studying myself. Tracking my thoughts. Tracking my habits. Giving myself small goals. Changing the way I see life. How everything is made up. Getting control of my thoughts and emotions. Knowing the difference between feelings and emotions. Understanding that the way I see myself is an aggregation of my family, trauma, and socializing. I can choose to write myself from a different perspective. I can choose to change my own narrative. My thoughts are fine but I don’t have to relate with them.

I started bawling at “you deserve happiness”. I recently broke up with an ex I had a crush on for 2 years bc of low self esteem thinking he deserved better. We stayed friends and by the time I realized letting him go was a mistake, it was too late. He moved on and found better bc of my self-fulfilling prophecy. It was a painful lesson to learn. To learn that I needed to love myself before even getting into a relationship. Which is what I’m trying to do now. 💙

I think the last tip is true however I don’t believe the love has to come from just a romantic relationship. This love can come from friendships or mending a family relationship. You can still learn so much. If you put your relationship in Gods hands he will guide you. And if you pray and wait for your future husband he will come better than you even expected and God would have prepared you to be together not just experience if multiple relationships and having to learn.
