US student here, just chiming in. Our tuition alone is $44,000/year and living expenses are about $20,000/year. On average, most of us here have about $280,000 in debt after we graduate medical school. It is kind of a broken system. But the pay after residency makes up for it which is why it is more compared to other countries. The cost of healthcare here is also astronomical. Corporate greed my friends. Good luck to all applying this cycle!

@Nanomachines5on Жыл бұрын
Stipends are standardized nationwide because the funding for ACGME accredited residencies are government supplied. The hospitals that host residencies get a set amount from the federal (central) government based on their recommended salary. There are some exceptions to this but these are rare.

Hey Manik , Hello from a fellow medico! I am a Dental Student in India and planning to do MS in Biomedical Informatics , this video helped me , Wish we could meet one day.
@Nanomachines5on Жыл бұрын
If you can, look into doing dental in America. I am not sure if there is a pathway for this. But, dental care in US is in demand and pays very well because they are often not medicare/medicaid based. Dental also includes a lot of cosmetic procedures which Americans love (these are all paid in cash and you don't have to deal with hassle of insurance pay). Many doctors' kids in America are in dental school, not medical school because medicine is no longer as glorious as it was years ago.

Health Ins is not mandatory, but if you dont have and get sick, you have a PROBLEM, does not mean you dont get emergency care, hospitals are required to provide mhealth care in those conditions.
