Mannfred was pretty cool until he impaled Balthasar. I mean he's evil that's obvious; but he's intelligent too! What does he have to gain if the world ends? That action was out of character.

It was out of spite. Mannfred realized that if Chaos won, he'd be stuck forever as their slave, if the Incarnates won, he'd be stuck as Nagash's slave. Bear in mind, the Chaos Gods didn't want to destroy the world, they wanted to rule it, blowing it up was Archaon's way of telling them 'screw you'. So Mannfred chose to die his own man than live as Chaos or Nagash's pet.

The Grail Knights of Bretonnia used to recieve their power from the "Lady of the Lake" / Lillith the elven god - she used them as a buffer and wall basically for her elven children so they can have more protection. She planned on making a afterlife for these grail knights and her own elves, but it got destroyed by a "Black Knight" who found out her deception and was PISSED so that bretonnias end time villian as well as a shit ton of undead

This guy is exactly the same ass in the game like he us in the lore, I've made some kind of pact with him, we were the best of friends and as soon as I was cornered by two chaos armies he just declared war on me, so now I had to deal with the ever chosen, the lord if change and von carstein, luckily I raped all three armies and then got my goblin shaman to finish Manfred in a duel, quite a humiliating way to go and then I renamed the shaman to "killer of Manfred von carstein", so that the rest of the world knows to who Manfred died and then I proceeded to eradicate all the life in the game

People side with Chaos because that's how the story was written, and also...because Chaos. There's this odd trope especially in fantasy where the ultimate evil wants everything to end, not even to remake it, just so there's nothing. I've always wondered what individuals or entities that think that way would actually do once they were all that was left, because if they wanted to stay all alone all they would have had to do is stay in whatever void they came from.

Also they had a greeeat time after the End Times - Archaeon lead his chaos bands across different realms and destroyed all of them - the realms of Age Of Sigmar are his current attempt at conquest

If chaos or the forces of order won than he would lose. He wanted to go out on his terms so he chose to help archeon by letting the lord of the end times destroy the world. Keep this in mind that the chaos gods did not want to blow up the world, that was purely archeon who was playing them to help him achieve that goal. Mannfred realized that it was better for him if the world ended that way he wouldn't have to deal with nagash if the forces of order won or be a slave to chaos if they won. Plus his character was petty and selfish so it makes sense to me

Nahash made him, Neferatta, and two other vampires too be his Mortarchs - one of these four became the first Ghoul King of the FEC. So probably just resurrection, but idk we are fully told how they return.

Well, being stronger and faster doesn't inherintly make someone a better fighter. For example, if Franz and Mannfred were to trade unnarmed blows with each other with no magical items to aid them, I'm possitive Mannfred would beat the Emperor to a bloody pulp by virtue of his supernatural strength and speed, and his endless stamina (comes with the whole undead thing). However, in a contest of arms, things change: Mannfred likes to rely on spells so he never actually seeks close-combat (unless he is absolutely sure he wins instantly) and the Emperor wields powerful magical items that put Mannfred's Sword of Unholy Power to shame. Also I think Mannfred wouldn't even bother training his combat skills. His specialty lies in magic and scheming, not in strength of arms.

Great video, and a great series! Thanks, Loremaster. Hell of a good primer to prepare for TW:Warhammer. The running theme with these stories from GW seems to be years worth of accumulated, well thought out and interesting lore, battles and scheming, then these End Times segments start and the lore seems to immediately devolve into some kind of wild, low quality fanfic.
