As a Louisiana native… It’s a lot of hate towards Mannie Fresh, but what yall got to understand is, this man come from an era when a desktop/laptop did not even existed, to make beats and not to be in a category with most producers today… he has a different audience and demographic Mannie made beats with a SP1200 and a session guitarist and keyboardist.. back in the late 90s and 2000s.. that was it! And still today I betcha he can out produce a lot of producers today if he had to… but these days he don’t have to, he made already… I bet my bank account on that ya heard me! 😂 He a legend when it comes to producing, you gotta put some respect on his name. Have had many producers before and after Mannie Fresh that I’ve been inspired by. It wasn’t until after hearing Mannie Fresh though that I actually took those ideas I had and got started. Why? Because he made it look and sound like he was in real life having FUN providing that one of a kind Cash Money soundscape! Chevys Monte Carlos & Regals was the first beat of his I’d heard. Once I heard Rich Ni99az on the 400 Degreez album I knew I had to try it for myself. You know how you can hear when somebody is smiling on a phone call with you? That’s how it was, for whatever reason I could just hear how much fun he had making that beat. And I’m still at it, haven’t stopped since because I still enjoy it. And a shout out to DJ Quik around that time for the sound of Rhythmalism too, that was a challenge I had to accept, trying to top that. One day, maybe…
