Hello from Kyiv Ukraine. Yes this is a very good light. I have 2 of the Godox version AD200s. The reason why I have 2 is because I also bought the AD B2 mount so you can mount 2 AD200s and double your output. This is now more power than the AD600 / Explor 600. But if you do not have an assistant with you there is a chance that the wind can blow down your soft box and stand and I know that people have smashed the LED screen at the rear of the light. Therefore I also bought 2 of the EC200 extensions and 2 clamps with quarter mounts. Now you can put your light units at almost the bottom of the light stand and connect the extensions to the AD B2 mount. I found that this setup works really well. Regards Peter

I'm trying to find/learn extra bits about the AD200 I have to get the most out of it, quality- as well as weight-wise, and while this video did not offer anything new... man, I like the progress you made yourself in these five years.

Don't forget high speed sync drastically reduces power output. You can get the double s-mount that holds two ad200's. To make up for the hss. Thanks

I guess one thing you can do is either higher the aperture or higher the ISO, so you don't have to use more power flash outputs. Other than that, thanks for the info.

Thanks for the video Manny! I had the AD360 and while they are great, I see possible points of failure in the setup (external triggers, cables connecting battery and flash, etc.) thanks to the video I took the plunge and grabbed some AD200s and living happy since then!!

Amazon lost my package of AD200 twice! Decided to go to Samys Camera in LA and decided to get AD600 instead. They allowed me to test both out on site and while the AD200 is fantastic, I sometimes need more wider shots of my model so went with AD600

Just an FYI. When using the bare bulb on the AD200 (pro) if you remove the back off a Godox AD-S17 wide angle soft focus shade diffuser and put it on the AD200 you increase your light output by almost .4 of a stop especially if you put some aluminium foil tape covering up the slits. If you are using a softbox on the S mount put it on first then attach the silver disc. Pretty cheap hack to add more light output. The silver disc prevents light from leaking behind the AD200. I do that as well as use the B2 with one or 2 AD200s. Just a thought.

I prefer natural light most of the times because if you pay attention to some of these photos they look so much like photoshop compositions. like someone chose a background blurred it and put a subject directly on top of that (eg. : 1:30 )

Hi Manny, first of all I love your work, big fan of yours! I'm planning to switch from canon to sony this year and I'm researching the best options on the market. I'll definetly get the A7RIII, but I'm a prime fan using the 35 and 85 couple with 2 bodies. May I have your honest oppinion regarding the sony 85mm 1.8 vs the 1.4? I'm looking for focusing speed as I'm a wedding photographer. I heard that the 1.8 is slightly faster than the 1.4? Also, what 35mm do you recommend for Sony? I'm a fan of the Sigma art 35mm 1.4, doese the Sony perform better? Thank you and keep it up! respect!

Hi Manny, hope you, Diana and your family are well during this awful pandemic. I wanted to ask whether you think the AD200 is a good starter with an ND filter attached to a lens to help keep the background perfectly exposed whilst shooting at a decent output through the AD200. From my understanding once you enter HSS you lose some power from the AD200. OR would you suggest simply purchasing an AD600? My main goal is to use it to build my portrait portfolio.

Hi sir I have godox v1 and ad 200pro. My question is if I use high speed sync on both of these, how much power do I lose? And if I buy a variable ND filter, which stop number is the best option for me to shoot at day time 2-5stop or 6-9stop? I'm interested in freewell variable nd filter. Is that filter provide me better quality for shooting backlight?

Hey Manny, to my eyes, the girl looks like 1 or 2 thirds of a stop over exposed compared to the background. Is that intentional? Is that in camera or do you do it in post?
@jeroenvdw4 жыл бұрын
It's the nature of flashes... If you expose the subject with a flash you have to underexpose your camera settings, so everything that's exposed with the flash will be correctly lit. But by doing so everything the flash doesn't touch will be darker.
