Mantic Games - Deadzone: Fall of Omega VII - Unboxing and Review!

thinking about trying a skirmish game in another unverse with a whole new host of gribblies and boggins - Mantic games are bringing out a new starter set for their skirmish sci fi game Deadzone!
I go through the classic unboxing adding my thoughts on the game and the box, which I did get sent to me from Mantic.

I'm taking a break from KT until 'season 3', as I'm a little burnt out and ITD as a setting doesn't particularly interest me. With everything that's going on now re gw prices, I think it's important that we try and support other companies.

Yeah that's a great point, the most recent box hasn't been hit with the price rise but the ones after certainly will 😬 100% always good to look at other games and companies

I blitzed through them to get them ready to play but I really like the plague abominations so i might try to take a bit extra time with these ones.

I haven't played the latest edition, but I had a lot of fun with their 2nd edition, and afaik, it hasn't changed all that much. It's a really good set of rules and scenarios.

This edition is my first outing with deadzone so not sure what's changed but I really like the rules for this edition, really leans into fun chaos

so as far as gameplay weight is it the same as the previous starter set? I couldn't see the game on board game geek but the trend seems to be the weight gets lower each release which I'm a fan of

Honestly the game itself looks amazing, I just wish the figures were better / more interesting or you could proxy other figures more easily.

I've not tried proxying but some of the human teams like GCPS could easily use guard models. It's mainly lasguns and the odd flamer/grenade launcher but it would take a bit of work. It's an odd line some models I love and others just do nothing for me, feels quite hit and miss

Oh man i love some of the Kings of War minis - the ratmen riding giant rats are some of my favourites
