Still listen to Mantronik today. Been a fan since 1985 when I heard "Bassline" and "Johnny The Fox". Good to see Mantronik getting his props! Hip-Hop greatest on the 909!!

Been a fan from Day one. Have tons of his works on vinyl too. Great Mastering as well. Nothing beat a Mantronix 12” especially a 45RPM. Play one today it sounds like it just came out. Thank you for sharing this Video. I’d like to have him on my Broadcast one day.

During the mid to late 80s it was Mantronix, Marley Marl, Bomb Squad & Paul C who were advancing Hip Hop beats to that next level. All pioneers of drum machines & samplers.

It's a real shame that some of the original producers within Hip Hop, Frestyle / Electro, etc, are not seen on the same level as better known producer's, that came much later on, after KMK.

SUCH A CATALOG THIS IS WHY I MAKE BEATS TODAY BASS MACHINE BUSTED MY SPEAKERS TWICE. LOL

Back then he was just a kid who was very talented spending endless hours on a drum machine. Time has proved he was the best to ever do it. I don't think he truly understands he was actually the King of the Beats even to this day

Kurtis Mantronik.. the only producer that would bother to read the manual that came with his gear... or kept a little Japanese man from the Roland factory with his TR 909...

KLC from beats by the pound credits Mantronik as the best hi-hop producer of all time, both KLC and Mannie Fresh have gone on the record and said there sound, which is the definitive sound of southern hip-hop, was based on his work. To Quote KLC, who produced the majority of the no limit catalogue, " i have 76 million records sold because of mantorinx". Both those guys have been involved in the biggest music distribution deal in the history of recording. Mantroinx was clearly way ahead of his time.

It always bugs me out how nonchalant he is. I sometimes think that he has no idea how influential he's been on so many current producers, even the likes of Timbaland, who mentioned him specifically and how his influence can't be talked about enough.
