I think people tend to forget that he was the second to last pick in the 1999 NBA draft. And look at what he has accomplished. One of the most underrated players ever.

Yes bro, really the spurs was not expecting anything from him that could turn into a gem? Imagine, san antonio bypass him for the 28th pick in favor of an unknown center in Leon White because it was better trade for Goran Giricek? I tell you, coach pops was more than lucky than manu was to him.

@tiotito3110 жыл бұрын
I feel like he's unfairly underrated, only because he doesn't fit the US's vision of what a great basketball player looks like, or the fact he's not American. I mean these are some great highlights, and that one at 5:30 was insane. But a lot of the time when you hear the announcers or the crowd after a great play by him, they're not going crazy like they would if it was Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Pierce, Rose, etc etc. It's the same thing with Dirk, and Charles Barkley said it best when the Mavs won the NBA Championship, his performance we should be going crazy over with some of the shots he was making in crunch time, on the biggest stage, but because he's German, and doesn't look like what you expect a legend to look like, we just take it for granted.

I definitely can't forget when Tim Duncan said, as pops usually changes players, thru development perhaps, it was manu who change pops, and on Tony parker's words, every summer, manu bring in set plays coming from his Argentinian team, for practice sessions. Had even watch a video, as manu was dribbling the ball on practice, pops instructed others to "listen to manu". This definitely made more sense on the argument on pops being a great coach.

@danortega7486 ай бұрын
He is still underappreciated as of this time mainly because of the media. Compare his slashing drive that can avoid even all the opposing, is something that you can never see to any of the great internationals out there
@paulpoisonous42429 жыл бұрын
He doesn't care about the defender he just looks for the opening, goes for it and then finishes. He really is a special player and an anchor on a special team. He will be a Hall of Famer for sure, with what he did with the Argentina National team it is a lock.

I don't think so..Tbh pop probly extended his career by coming off the bench plus playing with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker your whole career doesn't hurt.. Plus he wasn't the shooter kobe/Mj were. Slasher vs fundamental sound footwork/post-game . He's more on D Wade level not Kobe /Mj

I think if manu was handed his own team back in his prime, he would've been ridiculous. I honestly think he could've averaged around 25-27 ppg if he had a james harden type role back in the day. It mightve been different because european players weren't as widely accepted or had as wide a base as they do today. But I'm speaking strictly on talent and skill level.

So true, a handful of players, not even the superstars, can do that.
@knink2411 жыл бұрын
Ginobli is the 3rd greatest SG of all time behind MJ and Kobe. He could have left the Spurs for more money and could have averaged 25ppg but unlike Harden, he stayed took a little less money to win championships. He accepted coming off the bench because he played with 2 great stars.
@MrRockleyend2 жыл бұрын
I believe that exists this other Universe where Manu has the chance of become a franchise player and he average around 28 or 27 ppg as is considered a GOAT.

of all time?no?from the commonly known sg's,maybe.But that would be saying he's better than mcgrady and ginobili in his prime still wasn't at mcgrady's level while mcgrady was in his prime.The list of 2000's and up goes a lil something like this 1.jordan 2.jerry west 3.kobe 4.wade 5.mcgrady This is just people everybody knows about.The greatest sg's of all time are 1.jordan 2.jerry west 3.kobe 4.george"the iceman"gervin 5.clyde"the glide"dexter Manu is in the top 10 though.

@davidnesta326510 жыл бұрын
HADGER24532 Mcgrady was a great scorer but great team basketball is a different level. Having humility to take less money in order sustain a winning environment is a different level. Yes, Ginobili had great players around him, but he elevated his teammates play as well as his own play for the supposedly common goal of winning multiple championships. Mcgrady never even made past the first round of the playoffs. I'd put Manu at number 5.

Kobe and mj might be better, stats wise, but you can see a lot of manu's arsenal that you wouldn't find from the two. Behind the back dribble, passing between the legs, evading 4 to 5 players going to the hoop and of course the euro-step.
