Manus splitting himself into multiple beings reminds me almost of pyromancy in the first game, how it became split and always of one source, but each teacher imparted it’s piece allowing pyromancy to be learned, his soul too split, to different forms allowing the same chaotic creation to occur, despite being creatures of the dark, manus and his bloatheads resemble chaos demons far more than other abyssal enemies (artorias, Darklurker; wolnir) therefore, “humanity run wild” in my opinions the darker side of chaos, and more than likely where the idea for a profaned flame spawned

Hey, I just thought of something with regards to the Sanctuary Guardian. The demons are created by fusing a person with a Chaos Bug, right? And the Guardian is a manticore, with scorpion parts. Maybe what the Guardian's Soul's description is referring to with Guardian being more like a demon than a beast is it's suggesting the Guardian was manufactured through fusion of several beings, one of them being a particularly magic-infused scorpion.

With regards to a dungeon cell being the only way down to Manus, there is an odd little detail here: It seems like there isn't enough rubble from the broken wall for how big the hole is, and the rubble seems to be mostly on the inside of the cell. The first point might just have been a gameplay issue, as too much rubble might have been causing issues with players getting stuck on the floor, but the second issue may be hinting that it was actually Artorias who broke into Oolacile through the dungeon after getting infested by the abyss. We can see most of the way he would have taken from the abyss to his arena covered in 'abyss gatorade' along the floor, so maybe the cells don't really have anything to do with Manus himself... What I find very odd after Ringed City is how there is even a grave of primeval man under Oolacile. With how far Gwyn was willing to go to contain humanity, it would feel odd that he'd let such a powerful human just leave the Ringed City, honestly. It doesn't even seem to me like it might have been somebody who left the Ringed City alongside a mission from Oolacile, since then the Oolacilians would know of that grave without Kaathe telling them about it, plus why would they just bury that guy in some random cave?

Amazing content. I have been wondering if maybe, considering that Nashandra looks so much like Dusk and Manus has "daughters", if there wasn't some kind of planned breeding experiment going on with Manus, and I think you guys kind-of touched on this. This could explain the mutual interest in Dusk between Manus/Oolacile and Seath, they both needed maidens preferably of noble/god blood to mate with Dragons and Primeval Men etc. Maybe keeping the pendant hidden in a golem was a way to also keep Manus from Dusk, but Seath went a little too crazy for productive experiments before he could make use of her. My head cannon is that after the death of Gwyn, the nobility of Oolacile, like many, were looking for ways to survive the end of fire, and Kaath told them the dark pit under the city they used to just throw prisoners into had undead primeval humans entombed in it, that they could be dug up to help make hybrid children who'd last in the coming age. As a master of sorcery, Seath might have figured out how to prevent this to keep Dusk for his own use, but then we screw up his shenanigans and wind up ensuring Oolacile's experiment goes forward even after it's fall by freeing her and the pendant. Whether that's even close to true or not, poor Dusk...

It’s possible the reason Manus even was locked up was for his desires for Dusk. Together they could represent a Griffith/Charlotte thing. Oolacile seems like a human city all in all. They were obsessed with projecting their image of being light sorcerers while beneath it all knowing humanity’s nature is darkness. We could imagine a divide in the population of the light sorcerers being the upper class and those with an affinity for dark sorcery being lower down in society. Seath inspires the upper class to experiment with their Magic as he did. The chasm beneath the city is where they could be influenced by kaathe to attempt to manipulate the dark. Manus insults the upper class by attempting to be with Dusk. Manus has a powerful affinity for Dark Sorcery making him the perfect subject for experimentation and the ideal target to be imprisoned/tortured for trying to rise above his station. It’s possible he even tried to lead the common folk by spreading the knowledge of dark sorcery which is why we see oolacile townspeople attacking with them. Manus has his pendent because Dusk loved him in return and gave it to him. Dark sorceries all talk about yearning and desire being all consuming. We get a love story gone horribly wrong by the end of it, and Manus’s desire is so strong he becomes one of Kaathe’s attempts at creating a Dark Lord and Father/Master of the abyss the swells and consumes Oolacile. We defeat him, making us the ideal candidate for Dark Lord in the present.
