Thanks for the right message to the haters at the start of your video 👌 I like to watch all Jamey's videos. You can really feel how proud and enthusiast he is about his products. Also don't forget, entrepreneurship is always risky. Sometimes we forget how many success stories were preceded by daring to take a significant risk... I always appreciate how Stonemeier can do it! In addition, especially Wingspan and Finspan are not only games, but they're also documenting the beauty and diversity of nature on our planet. Jamey and his developers created something unique with this concept. Looking forward to Finspan, its hopefully many future expansions and the eventually digital version 😎

I appreciate the starting comment to not hate watch. I love these games, love the themes and art. I’m also a fan of the span!

Thanks for the information! Any chance of a gameplay video?

I think I will end up getting Finspan just because it seems like it would be easier to grok for newbies than Wingspan or Wyrmspan. I play games with a mixed bag of people and there are a few who get overwhelmed if there is too much going on that they are unfamiliar with. Any game that is a stepping stone of understanding for them, while also being entertaining enough for everyone else at the table, is a welcomed edition to my collection.

Using cards to pay for fish cards is very interesting. The recent game Reforest, which in some (mostly superficial) ways feels like Wingspan the Card Game, uses cards to pay for cards as its central mechanism. And it works super well! Wyrmspan bounced off me in part due to the theme but also because I didn’t think improvements to the gameplay from Wingspan were worth the added fiddliness. Very excited to try this one out, both for the theme and the more streamlined gameplay.

Great overview ! It sounds a bit too simple for me so I will give it a pass, despite the great theme. I got Wyrmspan last year which I really love and it is getting played a lot, so that will remain my pick. But great to see that this series has now various options with different levels of complexity and different themes so that there’s something for everyone!

Thanks for the video, I preordered already but wasnt sure what to expect. As a fellow fan of the span I'm a little worried about the simplicity, though on the flip side it definitely seems a lot more accessible for people i play with who found wingspan tricky, and wyrmspan way too much.

This looks like a lot of fun! I love the fish theme. I have Wingspan and think it is a great game. I held off from buying Wyrmspan but this is really tempting me 🤔.

Anyone have the link to that Mandy Pitinkin video? I can’t seem to find it.

This game seems too "casual" for my taste, considering the production and price point. Wyrmspan has a more game-y and crunchy feel to it and that's what's pulling me in. Wingspan in comparison is already more lightweight but has the horrible dice and (in its vanilla version) pretty bad balancing but Finspan, while mechanically elegant, seems to be even more lightweight. It's not for me, I already found my "span game" but it certainly has its place in the board game space.

I don’t think this one is for me! It feels like some of the original magic of wingspan is fading, the graphic design is definitely lacking even though the illustrations are beautiful. Part of the appeal for me is the details, which wingspan does incredibly well

I don't hate the idea of this I just don't like nature themed games. Glad others like it but just not for me.

I like Wingspan a lot, and was curious to learn about Finspan from you guys, until it started off by David dissing anyone who might not share his opinion right at the beginning. For me that's weak, no matter how many fanpeeps congratulate you for doing it. I'll look elsewhere.

I'm attracted by the excellent illustrations but the graphic design (drawn icons, frames) is unconvicing; same problem as Wyrmspan
@nafisnaim4 күн бұрын
Agreed. It's a common issue with SM games. Libertalia, Apiary, and that stamp game have poor and inconsistent graphic design too (the artwork is great though!). Sometimes they look a bit prototyp-ey to me.
@PurpleSmurfProds15 сағат бұрын
@@nafisnaim I had no problems with the graphic design on any of those, and i can't even imagine what issues there could be with Libertalia. The graphic design on that is great.

I didnt love Wingspan when it came out and didnt play it after, until a few weeks ago when i gaslit myself into thinking I might like the Asia 2 player version. I bought it and... dont like it at all. The cards arent nearly interesting enough for how arduous it is to play them. The food action is boring, the birdfeeder is tedious and annoyingly random, most carss you draw are useless for your phase of the game, you rarely get to activate a satisfying turn, the best thing to do the entirety of round 4 is to cheese your point scoring activations. This looks a lot more interesting. I love cards as currency and it means the very dull task of getting the right food tokens is gone. There are fixed rounds and it seems quicker to start an engine. Not an instabuy, but ill try it if i have the chance.

Oceania fixes a lot of the problems with not being able to get resources with wild nectars
@saintsalieri4 күн бұрын
@rvbcabo0se yeah, but i don't really like the core idea of every card being unique, the deck having no layering in setup, and needing food tokens in general. I also won't buy that expansion because I don't need more player boards. I wouldn't keep investing to "fix" a game i don't like. Could I houserule and proxy nectar with just the cards I have from Asia? Or is it better with oceania because of card powers that trigger from it? Asia came with the oceania boards on the reverse.

Reforest plays much quicker and better than Wingspan. Looking at the review, it seems to be a better alternative than Finspan.

You know the hobby is tedious when you now have content creators starting a video with disclaimer about negative opinions on the Internet about the reimplementation of previously released board games 😂
