Personally, I disagree with you about you saying that the saints were stronger by being around death all the time, because I would say they were more desensitized to violence and death Because it was all around them. You can see this in old movies and westerns where people die, and people are so callous and hardened by the horror, as though it is just an expectation. Now, in these factually-weaker "1st world" societies, more people look at a dead stranger and some might start weeping at how sad it is, or be disturbed at what they had seen long afterwards. I think, to a certain extent, that being so sensitive to death and dying people makes people closer to GOD, and more innocent in The Eyes of GOD, in our hearts. I believe people should have greater empathy for death, than hardening into stone.

Sir, I wanted your opinion on a matter. What do you think of mushrooms? Specifically, the fruit. Though civilization can owe its thanks to yeast, I consider the fruit of a fungus to be satanic. The entire kingdom is alien to our planet, and there are good fungus like yeast and koji, but the fruit itself is wrong. Breathing oxygen, yet without awareness. Yearning for the light, yet not using it. I used to love mushrooms and am/was a mycologist, but what are your thoughts?

Fr. Spyridon.... thank you for your many teachings. I was raised protestant, my fiancee is catholic, but i am now exploring orthodoxy. It was not until i heard your teachings that I was able to quit marijuana. Your teaching "Cannabis and Christianity" helped me so many times when I felt the temptation. Praise God Almighty, i am back to being myself. He had been calling me out of it for many months, but the addiction was so strong. As soon as i quit (even taking edibles) i was forced to confront the reality of my spiritual condition. And in this time of exploring your orthodox teachings, i had never known Gods forgiveness, love, and grace like I know now.

Hey dude! I quit my daily usage of weed almost two years ago now and even though I don't consider myself a Catholic, more now than ever have I felt my own spiritual connection growing. I never realized how weed and alcohol separated me from my own spirituality. Fr. Spyridon's teachings on Cannabis and Christianity also resonated with me very strongly. It helped put into words many things I had already been realizing on my own after quitting weed. Glad to hear you are doing well!

I became a Christian specifically Catholic after I started smoking weed, I was a non-spiritual atheist, the vice helped to replace my porn addiction, I don't see how the plant could be demonized, but hey God said different strokes for different folks
@alexandra-johnpaul6 ай бұрын
@@antonioalas4814 Thank you for sharing, brother in Christ. I pray you receive these words in Grace. You said it yourself, it's a replacement. Only the power of Christ can heal. One addiction can't heal another addiction. It can only mitigate the spiritual effects of its sin. But everyone is on a different path. I smoked it for 11 years... The Lord allowed me to start edibles so I could stop smoking. I admit I am more spiritually susceptible when I am on it. I was into transcendental meditation, shamanism, and yoga, which opened demonic portals to mental illness, temptation, and spiritual attacks. That was my path. I am a Christian all my life. And it was not until I encountered orthodoxy and Fr. Spyridon that I encountered God's True Love and Peace. After a few weeks of quitting, I took an edible for fun but I was not the same. The high was a substitute: a replacement for what my soul yearned for, which I had received through Christ. The true Healing of Jesus Christ. Not a replacement, but the essence of True Love. The Love that says you are free from ALL sin. Amen 🙏

@@arcanecontent @fekadu1978 your comments have just caught my attention and so I proceeded to read Matthew 12:43-45 of the Greek Orthodox Study Bible which provided an explanatory notation. It says word for word: " When the Israelites were delivered out of Egypt, they did not repent of their impure ways, and an unclean spirit took up residence in their hearts (here it provides further readings of Dt 31:20; Ps 105:34-39). Thus, we guard our hearts. Unless there is full repentance and the Holy Spirit dwells in a person, an expelled demon will return with others and reoccupy its abode."

I am committed to stopping the use of marijuana at the moment.
