@MortgagesByShamsLodin I never said they had to win. They should show an ounce of enthusiasm, though. Also, Cooper benched the entire top line for the lightning earlier this year for an entire period, and it helped tremendously. And those guys have won multiple cups. That's Toronto's problem. The star players are never held accountable for anything. And it's a big reason why they've only won ONE round in 8 years.

I'm taking over as the coach for this game. After the disaster in Carolina, there is no way I start 16, 34, 44 for the opening face off- I start Dewar, Lorentz and Knies. Tanev and Oel on D. Accountability. Set the tone &expectation - come out hard on the forecheck and crash. You likely think i am nuts but i bet they dont get scored on in the first minute of 2 periods. Then go to 91, 67 and 88 for line 2. 34, 16 and 74 on line 3 and 89, 64 and 11 on line 4. From there your play determines your ice time. Your compete, physicality, chemistry and ability to execute a unrushed tape to tape pass consecutive times. Too many guys trying to force plays, throwing the puck away as soon as it hits their sticks- blindly at that. Domi was horrendous at that all night- just throwing the puck into the crowded slot from the half wall or behind the net praying it hits a Leaf stick. Tavares is also guilty of this along with a few more. I also break up that PP1 as JD indicated. 30 second shifts x2 unless one unit is dominating. You score, you are now PP1 until you screw up. ACCOUNTABILITY! now I know most are thinking you're glad I am not the coach, but this team needs a real wake up call. I would even consider Grebenkin and Minton and maybe even Rafai on the back end just to what we have in this guy. They Bring a ton of energy and are hungry to perform. This involves healthy scratching a few guys- Morgan would be my first. End of rant!

I'm surprised you two guys have not observed sooner, how poor the Leafs PP passing is. In general their passes are in skates all the time. BUT, they're so skilled that they often kick it up to their sticks. Scotty Bowman has said for YEARS now, that the Leafs don't have enough set plays.

5:00 Sammy is right. They don't play like a 1st place team. They've benefited from great goaltending. Hard to imagine they'll be 1st at the end of the season. More likely they'll be battling for a wildcard.

Other v good teams have a bunch of games like this in long season. The Leafs haven’t had a bad or mid losing streak all season w a v good W/L record. I’ll throw this game away & judge them by next games vs Stars. Devils. Wild etc.. The Leaf stars weren’t up tonight. Most night they are & win. Chill. Just cause he coached a team where the stars aligned and they went on a miracle run doesn’t make Berube a good coach(not saying he’s bad). I’m not saying they fire him but what I am saying is if the Leafs fail to make it past the first round again I’d seriously consider it. Because if the results aren’t any better than they were under Keefe than what is the point of Berube. It looks like they’re committed to this core so you have to find someone with a system that suits them. This Berube style seems to exhaust the players but it’s also exhausting to watch. There’s chatter online, “boring is good, at least we’re winning”. Boring is not good, it’s boring because nothing is being generated. When’s the last time the Leafs beat a playoff team? These guys look like the Temu version of Toby Maguire and Ryan Kesler. Canucks have been terrible yes. Like leafs rely on McCabe and tanev... canucks rely on Hughes and Hronek. Unfortunately injuries make canucks hard to figure out what kind of team they are. Sideshow is overblown by media/fans and laughable.... just like the marner/Nylander complaining last year. Said since berube was hired and Tre got actual d men. And goalies. This is a group of better players with worse leadership behind the bench they have had since Babcock. Berube is not a good coach if he doesn’t have .920 goaltending. Everything goes back to Shanny. Marners comment after show everything wrong with this team. He embodies it. I literally turn to another game when the leafs go to the PP. there is nothing left so see. Miller? Marner (with contract) for Miller. Done.
