Love your play through! Dont forget to summon Scratch! He gets the help action so can use him to stabilize downed party members. Also something i learned late game is summoning a cleric through Withers and keeping them in camp. Free Aid on all party and some other buffs like Warding Bond.

If you ever feel like "what did that do?" something you can check is in the character sheet where every ability (feat) the character has is listed, if you keep more or less track of what you have, you can see if another feat has been added from something you did. For example, you gain Speak with the Dead after one page of the book, that's a ritual spell, but you gain a feat if you turn three pages of the book

Given you're a gnome, having Gale (or yourself if you're a wizard) use Reduce on you will allow you to fit through the holes that are usually for small creatures and animals.

They really need to fix the "they gave me another tadpole gift" dialog from Wyll. It's remnants from the open beta where the Dream Visitor/Guardian worked differently, and it's a little confusing. Fun fact: you can throw literally anything while in camp and Scratch will fetch it! He's the best boy. :)

The guardian will talk to you differently if you have more tadpoles powers and have been embracing it, so it makes a little more sense. I guess I've never avoided them so I never saw the "You haven't been using" dialog before.

@@Safiyahalishah Yes, the Guardian would give every character a special ability in early access, I believe you just had to use the Ilithid Persuasion once or twice. That is the "gift" they are talking about. The tadpole skilltree and the usable tadpoles themselves did not exist at that point so that is how you would get tadpole powers.

Get Karlach a stash of throwing weapons. She can throw three times a turn and is better at it than crossbows. Throwing is not just a utility, took me a while to figure that out myself. It even gets damage bonuses for high ground.

You don't need to pick up or throw objects in the world to move them. You can click and drag them to new places even if they are a little too heavy to throw. The sarcophagus lid for example can be moved by someone w/ high strength even though it is too heavy to be thrown.

Great episode, with nice fights! I just kept hoping that, when you saw that ogre getting aggroed, you had remembered that you also have your own ogres.... Mostly because I have never remembered to summon them in that fight and wanted to see how they smash gobbos around, or I had already killed the ogre trio earlier.

Shadowheart's Guiding Bolt is very strong for a level 1 spell, check that damage (I think you missed the amount of damage it can do) and creating an advantage for allies is a plus. I notice that you exhausted all the level 2 and level 3 spells at 02:24:10, but Guiding Bolt is a level 1 spell. Also, I think by you choosing Life Domain for Shadowheart, she should be proficient with heavy armor now.

@@donyates7300 the only spell I've been able to consistently hit with SH is Inflict Wounds... and it hits for a really nice chunk of damage. I also respec her to Life Domain as soon as I get the chance & she's my primary healer/support role

@@andyh4464 Mapo used Life Domain which is a good subclass (best healing specialist). However, if Mapo wanted to create an OP combat build Shadowheart then Tempest or Light Domain would be the way to go. Cleric class is OP, according to many easily one of the strongest BG3 classes.

FYI: to see what your approval actually is, just open the party view (Tab key) and click on Character Sheet at the top of the screen, then click on the 3rd tab on the right above each companion's head (it's the one with 3 horizontal lines) and scroll down to see what the numeric value is... max is 100. The color changing bar you've been looking at doesn't give as clear a picture of where you stand with each of them.

You're "signaling your intent" to give the book to Astarion when you select that dialogue option with that book. Gale dissaproves because he wants it, too. It is arcane magic, after all. Its an intelligence save, as well. You might pass, you might fail, but a char with high intelligence is best suited to pass, ofc. But there is no wrong decision, just choices and consequences, and even failure with most everything you do will potentially have a narrative outcomes that could last throughout the game (The Necromancy of Thay is the related quest you recieved thats now in your quest journal).

Killing goblin kids, a rite of passage for "good" playthrough lol. They were just numbers anyway. Fireball and Counterspell picks you've made for Gale are so good. Just my opinion, but would've picked the same for evocation wizard: a classic AoE and great permission spell that utilizes reaction as resource (doing something on enemies turn). Great choices. Gythianki psionics as racial abilities (lvl1, lvl3 and lvl5) are also very interesting. Out of all the spells, counterspell for me, personally, is the best. Counter spell and Misty Step, as 1st and 2nd on my S-tier. The whole reaction system is the result of players nagging about implementing it into the game during the early access.

1:09:20 that's the game sort of signals to you, without pushing or breaking your RP, that there might be something in the camp because you're "so tired and need rest" ;). That's one of the designed ways to signal to a player about longresting. 1:14:51 Idk, man, I've reported it to Larian way back, because it is random weird Dream Visitor annoying you how it "won't work" and "try again". These lines have been there since the EA, and I don't know what to make of them now, after a year of full release, lmao. Like, ok, "it won't work", sure. 1:40:40 Exactly, people upfront equals free XP. Can't let the just scatter after killing the leadership, plus got to test all the new cool spells and abilities after lvl5 ;) 2:13:39 I like how in true BG3 fashion, only strong girls can jump and explore, literally giving Gale, Astarion and Wyll all 8 STR is a very deliberate design choice. Mapo being a gnome and not so strong, but rather dexterous and wise, only adds to this whole "dynamic" 2:25:11 Dashing together is same as shared initiative, for player shared initiate allows for some tactics, which party member they would like to use first, possibly setting up some interesting situations, for enemies - simultaneous enemy movement to speed up turn-based combat, for instance 8 spiders hatch and instead of each spider moving separately, which would take time, they move at the same time

Your comment about 1:09:20 is wrong. Your comment was suspected to be the case but it was looked into within a month of launch and found that the dialogue about being tired is not attached to camp scenes at all. With regards to your comment about jumping, if giving the men lower strength than the women is an intentional design choice since none of the male companions (so far) use Str as a main stat then you are correct. But if you are trying to say it is an intentional design choice by the developers to make female companions have more Str than the males as a statement about empowering women, then citation is needed.

Hey nothing wrong with 8 STR. You don't need to be strong to be powerful, and the three bros are case in point. And who would begrudge these girls for being beefy, it's hot - I mean, it's cool and good for them. Also I think the 'I need to rest soon' will happen randomly if you're missing anything that can be regained through a rest (in Mapo's case, probably ki points).

But from publicly available info it seems the "I need a rest" banter is meaningless and random, and this aligns with my own experiences playing the game, and they have not put in any patch notes that they fixed this issue. I was going to leave your comment alone with that one. No need to be a know-it-all. But my understanding of your statement on companion Str score was that you were saying "the developers intentionally made female companions in early game have a high Str so that they can break perceived gender barriers." And if that is your point, and it's actually true, then cool. But citation is needed. Because I have paid very close attention to this game since before early access started. I watched every panel from hell from beginning to end, and read every patch note for early access and full release from beginning to end. And I don't recall ever seeing or hearing Larian ever saying anything like that. And while I know I sound like a know-it-all and perhaps I am one, *but the reason why I am calling your comment out is because I think you are putting words in Larian's mouth.* If Larian ever once said that they made the female companions stronger so as to defy gender norms, then just say where this info came from. Until then I am going to go by the far simpler assumption that none of the male companions recruited thus far by Mapo have a mechanical need for Str, and therefore they have 8 Str. Hell, even ripped Halsin has 10 Str by default. Because druids don't need Str. The ability scores are based off the class' intended playstyle and not Larian making a gender equality statement, unless you have evidence pointing otherwise. *And if you don't have evidence pointing otherwise, then you shouldn't go claiming to know what is an "intentional design decision" by Larian.*

it's been like 50+ hours of gameplay, and probably like a week+ in days spent together. Trauma bonding is real. people fuck people they've just met in real life too you know.

It happens. the only who hit 100% is Lae'zel, with other you sort of initiate yourself really, they don't actually start it themselves. And Astarion and Wyll don't really want to in this playthrough in a first place.

most romances aren't like that... Lae'zel doesn't really romance, she just likes to use someone, and she doesn't really have to like you... Gith are racial supremacists, so she doesn't see you much more than an animal anyways if you aren't Gith.
