The boys didn’t do half-bad. The youngsters’ play in the second half was pretty decent if you ask me. Things start getting out of control when Que Ngoc Hai get injured. Troussier though need to sort out his priorities. I can fully understand his intentions to prepare for the future, but c’mon, some of that squad doesn’t even start in V-League. At that age our core has already got themselves loads of game experience in the national league. We are in a World Cup qualification and an continental tournament, not necessarily the best time to play inexperienced kids. I still hope they grow fast enough, we are gonna need them soon.

I'm from Japan, and I went to Vietnam for studying when I was a college student. And I can confirm, Vietnamese people's passion toward football is magnificent. During my stay 2019 SEA Games was held, and Vietnam won the title. I watched the final match against Indonesia. And soon after Vietnam won the match, Vietnamese people paraded through the street, cerebrating their victory. I cannot forget the atmosphere at that time. I felt like I was in South American country!

As a fan of Kyrgyz National Team, I can feel the pain. In the first match away against Malaysia, we were leading 3-1. But when our goalkeeper left with small injury, defense just crumbled out and we bottled it to 4-3 to Malaysia (last goal in 90+3). Even though, I still believing that we will go out of the group. Anyways, good and a bit emotional video. Vlogs will enrich your channel, Max. From Kyrgyzstan ❤

I had the same experience, Last year I went to Mexico for the first time, and meet my grandmother for the first time and slept in the house where my mom grew up, it was surreal, made me very happy, and a little sad too, getting to know the place my mom left behind long ago, but was an overall great experience! Just want to say I absolutely loved your vlog, even down to your reaction to your national team's loss haha but seriously I loved your quick story on wanting to reconnect with your Vietnamese roots. For me personally whenever I go to Jordan from Canada, I get to experience that blessing of being around the family & my roots as a whole. Knowing that I have a place to come back to is a great feeling to have. And yes, getting to learn your language in your home country does leaps and bounds to understanding your roots. I for sure felt that as a relatively late Arabic speaker and having a time where I couldn't even speak to my grandma. Love your content as always, also side note thanks for listening to me in making an AniList account haha hope you like it!

Obviously Vietnam vlogs, or even vlogs more broadly, aren't something we can expect frequently, but I'll be looking forward to it if and once they come around. Don't wanna say I was truly surprised by how touching it was cuz your video on Vegalta Sendai has brought me to tears a couple times, hearing about how far countries like Canada or Wales have come has been inspiring, finally feeling a smidge of national pride when I see a man wearing a US soccer kit for once is a nice change of pace, and obviously vids like these have gotten me to be excited about a place I have no connection to. But still I wasn't ready for just how moving you relaying your experience was. Can't say I'm a huge football mega nerd but this channel and the effort that goes into it has brought back some of the excitement I felt when I was little, thanks for bringing that joy. Oh and sorry to hear you've been fated to be a Vietnam football fan you have my sympathy. But also congrats y'all seem sick as hell.

I feel your pain Maxwell here, as a fan of the Chilean National Team it has been really tough. Hell it’s been tough to be a fútbol fan. We have an aging squad with not enough players to replace them, and we are in an uncertain future with a new coach. All I can say my family and I who watch us fail to win again and us sit so close to qualification but so far out of coach is that we try to hope for the next game. I wasn’t to into fútbol so I never saw our heights and have only seen as fail to make the World Cup. I hope we can improve with our new coach. I wish your national team the best of luck in qualification.

Fantastic video, I really enjoyed it. My dad is a Vietnam war veteran. And my perspective of the country was based on my childhood. The turmoil of the fall of Saigon that happened a year before my birth. The attitudes towards the veterans and the refugees. In Orlando we have a huge Vietnamese community. And they still fly the flag of south Vietnam in their neighborhood, little Saigon. The pride on your heritage can be felt throughout the video. And the football was great. All the best from Orlando!

As an Azkals fan, I feel your pain too. Both our qualifier matches were winnable, if only we had attackers like Rasmussen. We fielded mostly veteran players especially against Vietnam (I was actually at the stadium during the match). But still, our problem post-Younghusband still exists: the lack of a natural striker in the team. Edit: As an ASEAN neighbor, I wish to visit Vietnam someday, too. The vlog was a vibe all throughout.

As a PFF(Philippines) fan, the country's performance so bad, I had used them for my psychology classes for 2 weeks in a row. but the honest truth is, we were doom from the beginning, lack of chemistry, lack of federation support towards training, and it doesn't help wheeeeeen the die hards(the ultras) doesn't want to cheer with the players when they asked(Happened after the Indonesia game). Honestly, As a Football fan, all Hope is lost rn, sure the PFL expanded, but most teams are amateurs...so I wouldn't be shocked if Kaya FC(the FCB of the PFL) win the title with no losses soooo- It pains, and things really need to change if my country needs to compete on the bigger stages from the AFF cup to the WCQ. Long ass essay 😂😭 but hope u see this, you're cool af, goodluck to Vietnam!

There are certain moments in this video that portrayed Vietnam in a way that I've never seen before eventhough I've lived in this place for my entire life 😊 Always looking forward to more of these type of content on your channel. Btw, speaking of Haiphong, perhaps next time you visit this city, wanna consider going to a Haiphong FC game in the league? I know the league's quality of football is not great but they have probably the craziest fans out of all the teams here and the atmosphere is insane, especially going against Hanoi FC, a lot of tension and bitter rivalry between the 2 teams. Sorry about the loss man. On a side note, having visited Vietnam solo once before, scammers did make my trip rather tedious at times. I didn't have any issues with Grab, though I did have to deal with one guy in Ho Chi Minh City that followed me around for 2 hours on his bike asking if I wanted to go on a $5 tour of the city. Managed to get away from him. Like your driver, not a bad guy by any means, but he was persistent, I'll give him that. That experience aside, I truly enjoyed Vietnam. I feel your pain bro. Travelling all the way, wishing to get away with a draw from a stronger team is priceless. Much painful when its a lost. As a Filipino fan watched live in Panaad stadium for AFF Cup 2019 in the island of Negros, who travelled first time by plane, first time leaving my main island, first time to visit my parent's home province, and first time to experience a different culture. The next day, its a matchday vs Thailand, where everything is unexpected to have a free pass to the stadium (some of other fans have obtained car pass lol). We had chat with the locals and also Thai away fans with a fan supporter with them. So much passionate they are, and also we pinoy fans we chant and cheer the azkals. first half was a scoreless draw, Filipinos have an edge vs bewildered Thai squad. In the 2nd half, Thailand scored first, the match progresses we lit up the crowd to chant "Pilipinas" once more. I'm praying that just one goal, would enough send shockwaves in asean. And finally they scored to tie the match 1-1 by a sheer luck, the ball hits the post, crawling in the goal line and spinning it inside, finally crossed the line. the Thai keeper couldn't believe it. The match ended in a draw. Possibly it could have been a win for the Philippines if they came out stronger in the match. For me, I'm happy to go home with a precious point after all of this travel in the island.

It's great that you can get to know and fall in love with your root this much. As a Vietnamese who has never stepped a foot outside this country, every now and then I say I hate Vietnam and Hanoi as a joke, but then it gets me thinking. Your videos kinda make me appreciate my country a bit more and are reassuring in some senses. Learning to speak Vietnamese would be wonderful but you made great videos representing us already, proud to have you as a fellow Vietnamese Maxwell.

Honestly, for me. Traveling to Peru never really hits me that much bc of my own family situations/dynamics. It's wonderful to see how much you were affected by going to the country where your parents were born. The only time I ever felt that "this is it" moment was when I visited the gravesite of my all my 4 grandparents who I never saw irl. That was a moment when silence truly filled my body and I felt nothing other than appreciation.

Welcome to VN Max. You must have enjoyed your trip very much. Next time if you have chance to come back to Vietnam, I recommend you to attend a V-league match, maybe a Hanoi FC match at Hang Day stadium or a Hai Phong FC, your hometown city at Lach Tray stadium. It would be a very good experience I promise ❤

Since you mentioned the Women's World Cup, you didn't realize that this tournament was full of excitements. Even though Vietnam and Philippines crashed out in a disappointing fashion, the latter only made the whole Southeast Asian Football very proud. In the second group game against tournament co-hosts New Zealand, they achieved one of the historic win thanks to a solitary goal from Sarina Bolden. New Zealand had just surprised everyone before with a shock victory over Norway in the tournament's opener, which was the first win for New Zealand in the World Cup overall (for both mens and womens). Next, we saw tournament favourites like Canada, Brazil, and Germany bowing out in the group stage. The said USA also played poorly after only beating Vietnam 3-0. They failed to top the group after dropping 4 points against the Netherlands and even another debutants Portugal. In the end, the 4-time champions lost to Sweden on penalties. Both Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe didn't even scored a single goal throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, the likes of Colombia, Jamaica, South Africa, and Morocco qualified for the Round of 16, with the former even reaching the quarterfinals. Lastly, the Matildas Australia also made the host country proud, despite missing their best player, Sam Kerr, through injury. They reached the semifinal, albeit not winning at all (fourth place), but still made the future of the football in the country bright. The tournament's Top 3 were the European teams, which was another big milestones in the Women's World Cup (Spain, England, Sweden).

This video hits so damn hard for me as a Viet who moved to the US recently. My entire childhood was basically watching the national team play, especially under Park, and many of the players like Q.Hai or C.Phuong were my idol instead of the big names in Europe. Honestly, the video just makes me wanna go home...

I was just like you. My father was an Haiphong native whole his youth. Although i was not born there but my tie to that city always so huge. Those beautiful sunsets riding my pops old bike through pine hills, lakes and rivers of Haiphong with wind through my cheeks. That city truly worth live in. Thx man for your story. Just the same as me but in diffrent perspective ❤

as a vietnam team follower for a long time, shit attack and conceding when the match is almost over is something that I expect at this point so I wasn't even mad. Honestly at that moment I thought "we probably gonna concede a goal" and we did.

17:30-18:00 This is literally classic Finland national team moment. Most of the time snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in the last 5 minutes or even in the added time. I definitely understand this pain you're going through 😂
