Indonesian women are more considerate especially when it comes to money. This is my experience and it is interesting when you compare them to women from other Southeast Asian countries. Why is that?

because our Parents teach us not to asking anything Materials to Men that wasn't your Husband/Father,,,even with our one blood brother..we're shy to ask anything about Material/money/expensive things !!my Mother teach me when I was teenager (don't asked money to a Men you just meet or don't ask any expensive stuff to Men,,,,if he asked to take your vir#inity before you Married...are you gonna give him...!?and how if he's didn't Marry you...and how you gonna explain to your future Husband...!?because the most valuable in you as a woman was your pure clean body)!!so...my Mother said...(if you need something ask to Mama/Papa...if we're has enough money...we buy for you and your sister of course)!!🙏🙏🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

that's what I did when he went to Indonesia, I wanted to pay for his food but he refused, I know he can pay but I wanted to pay because I was grateful he wanted to come to Indonesia to meet me, that's what Indonesians usually do, you came as a guest and I was the host

This is very true! She never asked me for anything and when I asked to buy something for her she will say she doesn’t need it. Now we are married if I send her above due to the exchange rate she will asked me what is she supposed to do with the extra money and now she will just give the extra cash to charity. All she care about whenever she calls I answer and I have to call her twice a day. I feel really Blessed

@@danieleventrelli2775You're so lucky brother, that's a good girl & a keeper right there. Most of Indonesian girl won't take advantage of you, especially the girl that still had parents or live with their parents. Hers need is her parents responsibility, so if you asked them did they want something, they would reject it politely because good Indonesian women won't accepting money or any other stuff that too expensive from stranger or boyfriend. It's what their parents teach to them. It mean that they would in debt of gratitude, and it's the least they want. If you give them more than $500 then they're afraid they can't payback that gratitude. Especially if you're still in gf/boyfriend relationship, but it's would be different if you're already engaged or married. I had a tricks that would work if you wanna help her, first : remember her birthday & give her PC or laptop as a gift (you should buy it & wrap it then give it to her). Make it as a surprise gift, then they're can't reject it, especially if you insist on to give it to her. If you out of the blue buying her expensive stuff and her parents knew about it, then she would enter family interrogation room, their parents would asked where's that expensive stuff come from and what she gave to you in return? Their parents would afraid if their daughter give her Vcard to foreigners because that Vcard is their honor & dignity.

How a woman treats and talks about her father is very telling. If she is able to comprehend and understand his struggles to look after his family, and if she can relate and appreciate that and love him for that - then she's a good woman. How she treats the father is how she will treat the husband. Good news is that Indonesian people are constantly reminded to be thankful for every little thing, which is why they're so easy to get along with.

Before married with my husband, i paid almost everything our expenses like a host,like make sure he not lost too much money incase our relationship not working ,since he already spent lots for his flight ticket from America to come to me in Indonesia. after we married and move to the state, he provides everything for our family, I'm still considerate and mindful about spending our hard earned money. Something not common in America, I'd ask permission and communicate before i buy something even tho its my own money

Its true in america that men are expected to pay on first date but i think its a bad idea because the man will never know if the woman only wants a free dinner or if she is interested in him. I have a female friend who would do this 1-2x a week. Its hard for a man to ask a woman to split the cost but another idea is to do cheap dates like hiking or coffee before spending $100 usd on a dinner.

Indonesian women are raised to be diligent / caretakers, strong family values.loving, cares, loyal ect... women from lower middle class are usually accustomed to well, somewhat low quality of life. theres famous quotes in indonesia "Happiness is simple. Happiness doesn't have to be expensive" so were not obbssed with th luxurious thing. my father always tought me Hands above better than hands below. Also at some point we will feel bad to take something for free. in certain culture in indo " if someone give us something, to appreciate that,we can give them back other things"

Indonesia is the number one rank of the most generous country in the world fo 6 years in a row till now 2024. Why ? Because helping people is a daily tradition of Indonesian culture also a part of charity practices according to our Religion Either they are Muslims, Hindustan, Budhist, or Christians or else. So U experienced this feeling in our country during your travel, it's common here bro. We're not too much materialistic person, although we still need money to live But money does not mean everything in our life like in western civilian daily life... Hope u enjoy in our country during travelling around Indonesia,,,,❤

Most of Indonesian is not the ambitious type with the mind to conquer the world. We live with the mind to enjoy the live that we have with convenience we have. One of the reason maybe is the nature that we have. Indonesian land is very fertile that could grow anything so the people wont ever grow hungry. This condition make us very laid back because we are more or less content with what we have. So in the matter of searching the marriage partner we also tend to find those who is conveniently suitable to us. The bar is not too high or too low, just enough so we could live together conveniently as family. We prefer a stable relationship with less luxury rather than the sparks flies relationship with lots of glamorous things.

I can acknowledge it: I was with an Indonesian also in Magelang. She organized it, because the English of most people are so-to-say-non-existant. And I am sure that we made things that normally I wouldn´t have been offered if I would have done it on my own. Also got she the number of the driver who made the Magelang-Tour with us (for 500.000 IDR) and we got a special price for our transfer to the airport a few days later. You are right: The Magelang-Tour was awesome. - Another thing: When we were shopping, I told her, how much I can afford for the day and that we both are equal. So she asked me to buy her a skirt for 200.000 IDR. - Of course she could and as I saw another nice one in another shop for 160.000, I asked her, if I should buy this too. And she was really declining and said: "You already bought me one skirt. This is so expensive. Don´t do it for me, even as this skirt is really beautiful." (200.000 IDR is about 12 Euros) . - What I did not find cool: Because she wanted to get treated better by Grab-drivers or the hotel-personell, she told everybody that I am her boss and she is working with me in Germany and "the boss" invited her for a short holiday in her home country. I found it annoying, but she felt better doing this.
@MinimalistNomad

Interesting, thanks for sharing. She most likely played the "Boss" thing to save face. She did not just want to be seen as a girlfriend. To be seen as a wife is better. So if you are her Boss, everything is cool and safe.

@@MinimalistNomadzes, we talked about it before and she told me, that it is a no-go for her to be seen as a girlfriend, because then she would be treatend worse as when I would be her boss instead. You're right about Indo and pinay differences that shocked me too. I've date both too, and I think the difference comes also from the colonial influence. Spanish ex colonies are more assessing what you have and think the foreigner can pay for everything, I see it also in latin America (central and south). Indonesia had a long time protestant frugal influence from Netherland and are more proud than beggars. Thanks to your skills, it would be good to add some insights about the food you taste sometimes along your trip in Java. Different rices and dressings.

@@pisangmelinjoe34 You just don’t know much about that’s why you express definitive « know it all » stupid opinions. Try to travel a bit more, and open up your mind to others. Westernization is global mind virus that hits all cultures and countries. Marcel is going beyond with nuances. That’s the value of his monologues, that maybe you still don’t get with such neanderthal assertions.

If you want to know the culture first, there is nowhere better than Jakarta. Jakarta is the melting pot of every ethnics, so Jakarta chose a more "neutral" Indonesian way. Indonesia is the only multicultural country in the world. In other countries, term "multicultural" only applies to household, or at most, part of the town. It is only where you meet people of same races. That is what you will experience in Jakarta. But if you go to places outside Jakarta area, you'll experience culture shocks from border to border. Because every region of Indonesia implements their own culture at society level, govermental region. Not just one household. Some are even implemented at province level. Such as Yogyakarta that has their own sultan as their ruler, or Aceh that has sharia law, or the well known Bali. In Jakarta, we have most of their food, most of their culture, most of their habit, all of their languages, and so on, without their binding laws. And they usually just restricted in some restaurants, small area of the city, or some specialty shops. Other than that most of Jakarta culture are neutral, and people are more considerate because they expect that you won't understand their culture. You won't get deported by kicking some offerings like in Bali, or getting lashes like in Aceh. But in provinces, you are expected to follow their culture. They won't even speak Indonesian language. Only Jakarta people use Indonesian language as their primary language. When you move to Jakarta border, you'll experience more people speak in Sundanese, and outside Jakarta, all other regions each speaks their own language. So you can experience a sneak peek their food, their culture, their habit, how do they eat, how do they do something, etc, before going full stretch in their home region. Jakarta has a good transportation system. Buses, online taxis, and trains. Just make sure you learn about QRIS to make your life MUCH easier. That's how we pay things in Indonesia. Don't be surprised if they refuse your legacy paper based money.

Bali (province): foreigners friendly area, you can get around easily in English Jakarta: better public transportation, better shopping experience Batam: a quiet city but relatively developed as compared to most parts of Indonesia Bandung: cooler air, a city with quite good development and with close proximity to Jakarta. To get around, install Grab and Gojek apps which are ride hailing apps for motortaxis and regular taxis commonly used by Indonesians. This is a good introduction before you try other public transportation such as bus and train.
