This is your month of read! Would love to see how you proceed with the cream colored silk. It would also be fun to see your inspiration photo. Happy sewing

I can't wait to record the March makes video so you can see how mine turned out. I am so sorry I didn't get to them all, but it was always wishful thinking!

The silk is divine, you could start with the free pattern from Itch to Stitch petal skirt for the curve, make a bigger piece, flip it for the next tier…,totally achievable. Will love to see that all done!

I believe (but I could be totally wrong!) that most knit fabric is knit on the machines in a tube or round. Then it's cut flat and finished to be sold. Most of the ribbing I buy is in the round. When I hand knit, it is certainly faster and more efficient to do stockinette stitch in the round.

AHHH that makes a TON of sense. After working with the knit fabrics I had, I did not experience anything different about it, but it did give me total control of how I wanted to cut into it, which was fabulous! Thanks for this information, it's something that I'm sure my eye will be more keen to spot moving forward.

Hey, why not be a little ambitious? Even if you don't manage to make them all this month, the planning and anticipation is part of the fun. I'm most curious about the silk, but I want you to make that red top work. Whatever you make, I look forward to hearing how it goes!

hahah Theresa, I feel like the queen of being VERY ambitious lol! I certainly agree that planning is so much of the fun, I relish in it, even if I don't make them right away or change my mind. I had to nix the silk, but I am really happy with the red lace top, except for my minor boo boo lol

Great fabrics and fun plans. So ambitious but I know you'll accomplish what you set out to make. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I do love the jumpsuit you're planning with the red/white threaded fabric. Very cool :) Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! I was sincerely overly ambitious, but it was so much fun! I cannot wait to work on the jumpsuit after another toile!

I made the McCall M7925 out of an African wax print and it will be very stiff and structured feel. It won’t be flowing like the pattern picture. I love the way it came out but it definitely looks more formal than I intended. That dress has so many pieces. It took me 7 hours to make. Partly because of print matching when I cut the fabric. I believe I used most of my 6 yards of fabric. I want to say I made it in February 2021 if you want to look back at an old Feb & March makes video to see what I mean. I made a size 14 I believe and I wished I had gone up a size because of how fitted it was on my midsection. It is beautiful though. I’d like to try it is a rayon challis so it’s flowy.

THIS WAS SO HELPFUL, Sheree!! Also thank you for reminding me too, I just revisted the video, and I remember that reveal video, your dress is absolutely GORGEOUS! & I hope you've had a festive occasion since so you could wear it. Those fitting tips are helpful and I'll certainly consider it when picking my size. Now that my trip is behind me, I will actually reconsider fabric choice and go with something that has more drape, and a rayon challis sounds perfect!

I love your plans Fatmata - I love the cotton voile fabric - it's beautiful. I have only used cotton voile once and it was used for my favorite dress ever (at least so far 🤣). I'm looking forward to seeing your new makes!

Thanks so much Michelle! I am now contemplating what to make with the cotton voile, I love it so much I beginning to overthink everything, or trying to squeeze too much out of it! I should've ordered more when I placed this order in the Summer, why did I only get 2.5 yards?? lol

such ambitious plans! have you thought about lining the cotton voile dress? that might give it more structure and let it hang better on your body.
@TIMAbyFK
@TIMAbyFK 2 жыл бұрын
I would certainly look into lining the cotton voile dress! Do you have recommendations of a natural(ish) fabric to line a dress with so that it would still hang nicely at the bottom and not cause friction on the cotton fabric? I'd love to know what you're thinking if you've had experience with something like this.
@knottygnome
@knottygnome 2 жыл бұрын
@@TIMAbyFK i hate synthetic linings so i hear you. i would use either a cotton voile/batiste (though friction/sticking might be an issue) or rayon batiste or bemberg rayon. though fair warning rayon batiste is super heavy. i lined a dress with it once and it weighed a ton.

Interesting - the round fabric, I haven’t heard of it before. I wonder if it’s supposed to be cut flat??? Inquiring minds need to know. 😂 Also, I haven’t heard of Value Village, so I need to check them out. Thanks for your video. So inspirational.

Thank you so much, what a lovely comment. Yes, I know folks often have Goodwills around, but unfortunately they are not the closest thrift stores to me, and every time I have gone to the ones in my area I don't have much luck, so I've been sticking to my Value Village stores, and they often deliver!

You are too kind! & i could totally see you in this. I honestly felt so great about the pairing of this fabric with this dress! Match made in sewing heaven! Also, I just want you to know that my husband sincerely asked me how much I would sell my dress for after reading your comment lol. I was like these are my sewing friends, and Sheree is a talented sewist, I think this is a compliment, I don't think she actually wants to purchase it lol My husband doesn't understand us hahah

@@ShereeThomas30 Ok good, gld to know I'm not alone! I was like can you not try and come up off of my hobby, stop trying to turn me into a seamstress for hire. But I think as he's watched the YT community grow and engage, he definitely seems to understand it more and the sharing aspect so that's been awesome to watch him become more appreciative and understanding of why I love doing what I'm doing (even if it's not to sell it), Also thanks for all the kind words, you are incredible yourself, so that means so much to me!

hahah Vee, the way I underestimated the time it would take to sew up all these things is comical, looking back at this video lol. Like I am cracking up listening to these plans hahah As you know this was most wishful thinking video I've recorded, and I only got one garment done before my trip but I will continue with the plans into next month cause I really love them!

Hi there, novice seamstress here in the DMV and I guess I need to checkout Value Village for the fabric deals. What is your favorite location to score your fabric finds?
@TIMAbyFK
@TIMAbyFK 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristyl! I hope I run into you one day! My FAVORITES are the Adelphi (I'm biased because it's on my commute, and I go frequently enough to be able to see if they have new things) and the Silver Spring (because you get two stores in under one roof, Value Village and Unique Thrift!) ones! 2277 University Blvd E, Adelphi, MD 20783 & 10121 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20903 Happy Thrifting, I hope you find some gems!
