I love the fact that even though Tom's voice is incredible and he's keeping up strongly with Little Richard, not once does he try to show off or steal the show. They're both thoroughly enjoying themselves and both sound incredible, absoloute legends, hats off to them :)

True! And most people don't (really) appreciate the 'Soul' of this Welsh kid's voice. His hips stole the show and scared away the male album buyers (imo). But its funny-- I thot the very same thing at 4:35...4:54! GOOD STUFF!

Stefan Altocumulus I have to agree, there’s no argument he’s a great singer and other rockers will (reluctantly) say the same but to the vast majority of people he’s the guy playing Vegas singing “What’s New Pussycat”, it’s the same reasoning someone like Cher couldn’t get in though she’s done some great soul music on her own

The "King" has always referred to Elvis, at least in my recollection. Off hand, I can't think of a catchy one-word term for LR. I was in my mid-teens back then. And still have 2 or 3 of his ancient LPs.

With all due respect to Elvis, LR is the true King of R&R. It took huge balls to be yourself as a flamboyant black man in the 50s and 60s in the segregated South. He was always true to himself, and that’s why he’ll always be “The Man”. Rest In Peace, King.

Little Richard will always be the King of Rock & Roll! There would be no Elvis if it wasn’t a Little Richard to mimic! His final years were spent praising God, preaching the 3 Angel Message of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and urging everyone to follow Jesus! He is now asleep and awaiting for Jesus’s triumphant return! Praise the Lord for Little Richard!

Yes, my mother and I always watched the Tom Jones show too. He had the best of the best on there, & his duets were so entertaining. Mama loved Little Richard too. Every time he was on television her eyes were glued to the set.

I'm 62 and been listening to Tom Jones since I was a kid. He more than holds his own with all of the legends he paired with on his TV show. I consider him the greatest male popular singer. Deep down soulful but when he belts out a ballad, his power is operatic. Just amazing.

Tom Jones got a bad rap early on. Many of us who like rock didn't like his image at 1st. He did grow on us as time went on and he got his accolades. At 1st, for me, he came on as to clean cut looking for the music he was singing when he sang rock songs. His look fit the ballads he sang perfectly I thought. And Elvis was the man and I thought overshadowed Tom Jones's talent.

@@bertpainter8385 Elvis was the original which is always going to overshadow look alike talents even if that talent is fantastic in their own right. Jones was also a singer only and not a song writer which severely hampered any artist from that era during transitional periods because they couldn’t adapt to societal shifts in musical tastes (unless they got lucky with song writers)

I've never seen this either, beautiful. But there may be an argument over creater of r&r. Chuck Berry, a young man from Lubbock, Texas, etc. All wonderful artists, musicians, remembered, and seen anew by the young, forever. I'm so jealous!

Is unbelieveble that Sir Tom Jones still have this powerfull voice on these days. I love the rythim of Little Richard. A simple and amazing rock 'n roll. This is rock 'n roll, the true rock 'n roll. Would like to give a thousand likes for this.

How amazing! I actually got to play guitar for little Richard in the early to mid 80’s. My dear late music director friend Artie McLaughlin got me the gigs. Don’t you wish every day could be like this. Everyone coming together, despite politics, race and creed and just singing together. Look how happy Tom is!

Music has always been a major love in my life. My very first musical memory was seeing Little Richard on TV, and thinking, " I dont know what this is, BUT I LIKE IT! I raised all my children on good music and I played all different kinds of music for my middle son when he was a baby, and his favorite CD was Little Richard. Go figure.

Tom was highly influenced by Little Richard growing up and also Jerry Lee Lewis and Brook Benton...you can hear all their voices in his vocal sound and depending what type of song he's singing...

I really love how Little Richard, Rod Stewart and Tina Turner always sang at the top of their voice not holding anything back and their voice are all unique just like a fond tuned instrument and that's hard when you are screaming into the microphone but each one has its own unique fine tuned pitch. Awesome to watch and hear! Look at the sweat pouring down Little Richard's face...even then he wasn't holding back he put everything he had on the line to entertain the crowds! 😮

​@Curtis Ostriker Elvis's career started in 1954. It's doubtful that he would have known anything about Little Richard before he hit the big time with Tutti Frutti a year later. However, that's a minor point. You're right that LR did have a huge influence overall, whether or not Elvis was influenced by him.

@@dundalis Wikipedia has a section on the Beatles' musical influences. They mention Little Richard, but make no suggestion of him being their predominant influence. Presley was apparently important, and there were others like Chuck Berry, the Eerly Brothers and Buddy Holly,

Two of my Favorites, I saw Tom one time, Little Richard I have seen him at least 16 times. I mean on the Front Row in Houston at the Arena Theater and the Old Sm Houston Coliseum, that was such a Shindig, that I felt out of place wearing a Suit &Tie and not a TUX. LONG LIVE THE SIXTIES!!!

He is so awesome! I saw Little Richard for the first time in the late 60's and I wondered to myself, "where the Hell has this guy been all of my life". This is 10 years after his prime and he was better than ever. He will live forever in our hearts and music!

Piano? Surely Little Richard's main thing was that great, powerful, bluesy rockin' voice of his. He was wonderful. But when it comes to rockin' piano, it's all about Jerry Lee Lewis.

I was never a big Tom Jones fan - he was too much of a Crooner for me. But in this video, Tom Jones keeps up with little Richard - not an easy thing to do - it shows that Tom Jones still had a heart of rock ‘n’ roll🎹🎹🎸🎸🥁🥁👍👍
