Aw, bless his heart. He was on his very best, flawlessly polite, gentlemanly behavior, and she _still_ cussed him up one side, and down the other. LMAO.

Why do we guys always get the rough end of the stick? Humans have laws against 'Grass' - what? - it's a natural product. We horses eat grass every day What's wrong with that :-D
@nameofthepen10 жыл бұрын
Spud4X - LOL. Well, he was too henpecked to even put his head down to eat. That wire fence was electrified, which is what made the baby leap away, there at the end. So Mr. Stallion could finally take a deep breath and relax. :D

Most of the people commenting know nothing about natural horse behavior or how a stallion should act, this is a perfect example of a well trained and natural stallion and heard interaction. Ignorant humans are what causes stallions to be dangerous.

The foal actually seemed much more interested in the stallion than the stallon was in him. Wonder why the mare was so jittery.
@bubblesangel5559 жыл бұрын
Very True, she is a new momma that's why.
@skyehess98169 жыл бұрын
+pete The reason is actually because the mother knows that fence is electrical, probably due to past experience. Everytime the foal would get closer to it to inspect the stallion that happened to be there, the mare lead her foal from it. That explains why at the end the foal nudges the fence, only to be shocked.
@Yidenia3 жыл бұрын
I think the stallion's actually pretty aware of the foal. He's feigning nonchalance but you can see his ears are pointed in the direction of the foal almost the entire time

I see all the comments on the fence. im sure with the way the fence has handles on it, its an electric fence :) ive seen them like this, and ive seen the other videos with the stallion with mare and foal, the foal is his so theres no chance of it killing the baby on purpose. and in the other videos he seems like a well mannered stallion compared to a few ive seen before :) im sure if it was truly a safety risk, they would not have tried introducing them :)
@HannahCobana9 жыл бұрын
+BinkMoody Towards the end of the video the foal was moving the fence wires around, sort of playing with it. If it is an electric fence it seems to be shut off or something as the foal didn't freak out until the mare touched the foal.
@mirage7909 жыл бұрын
+HannahOfferdahl Electric fences for horses have a pulsating current so the foal may have touched it between pulses at first, but you can see he later gets zapped.
@HannahCobana9 жыл бұрын
mirage790 I still don't think the foal got zapped, I think its mother startled him when she touched him because the foal's attention was on something else that was new to him not really his surroundings. The timing just matched up with the mare touching him and the foal freaking out

Lynette Komidar You are right Lynette ! she touched his butt with her nose, exactly when he started touching the "fence" scaring him, thus teaching him to stay away/respect fence's ! that stallion was at NO time a danger to that foal, damn good thing cause that "fence" is a pos !!

She seems to be telling the stallion to stay away AND telling the baby to stay away from the stallion. I had to laugh to see how persistently the baby keeps trying to return to the stallion. Horse babies are just about as obedient as human children it appears. What a lovely set of horses. Thank you for sharing this video.

Thank you for all the nice comments on my videos :) We still have Bravo, but he is now for sale. The reason is that he no longer can be with his parents, Fabuloso sent him away when he was 1 year old and his mares came in heat, so that wasn't really a choice. Now we hope to find him a nice home where he can make someone as happy as his father makes me! Since we get new foals every year we simply have to sell them...

I have a rescue horse that was terribly abused in her former home. She was terrified by every thing, even brushes, sponges, and fly spray. But as soon as she had her foal, she became the meanest mare ever, even worse than our lead mare. She'd gallop across the field, to the fence, just to bite our other mare over the fence.

@operafan65 The mare is talking to both of them. She is moving the foal away, but also telling the stallion to move. She isn't making too big a deal about it, and every time he gives calming signals she eases up; as long as he stays still and passive he can stay. If this was a strange stallion she would be much more upset about him being there, but they know each other well, and she knows he listens to her when she needs him to. So, she isn't TOO worried, just sending a message to both of them.

In the wild stallions are often with their mares and foals. And in a lot of places, stallions are often turned back out into pasture with their mare/foal after around a week or so.

Actually the horses are PRE (Spanish horses, often called Andalusians). But the same applies; the foals are born dark and change color as they get older, unless one of the parents has another color and a dominant color gene. These two horses had another stallion foal this spring, and he was born totally black. He turned to brown within the first month, and now, a month later, he is starting to turn gray. In about 2-3 years he's white!
