Best squaring video on KZbin because it’s not demonstrating on a cup holder but on a real, full sized quilt!

This is the best squaring video I've found. A lot of tutorials will demo on tiny quilts and this one is full size. The lighting, sound and camera angle is great! I also like that you showed the whole process without cutting the scene. Thanks!

Thank you for showing this procedure on a normal sized quilt! Most people demonstrate this on tiny table toppers and it doesn't give a true representation of the whole process. I often watch your tutorials and find them very helpful.

Your tutorial is fantastic! Thank you! Your camera is placed perfect, your voice is pleasant and clear. I like how you cover everything like how to fix it if it doesn't line up perfect, etc. This is the first video I've watched of yours and I'm SO pleased! I learned so much and at the same time my anxiety over this definitely went down. 😁👍

This is so very helpful! Thank you for doing all 4 sides of the quilt on camera. I'm happy to see that a large quilt can be squared up with common tools.

You are a great teacher, first video I have seen on how to do this, thanks! I remember getting my first quilt ready to square and not knowing what to do next, ended up folding it and cutting and guessing....

Thank you, Margaret, for a great video. You showed us your expertise in working with a quilt that seemed to square easily, yet you had an area or two where you had to "work it." I would love to see more videos like this one, especially if you can square up a quilt that requires you making your square corners meet well on the edges. Also, how about a quilt that doesn't have definite lines to line up with? Thank you again. My quilts are often uneven and this video allowed me the opportunity to square up without much grief:) Would you suggest squaring up a quilt prior to adding borders, or let the borders be added and then squaring? Your comments are much coveted.

For the quilts that I have made, I use a larger square and do it on the floor. I just move my cutting mat to each corner.

Margaret, fab video...wish I had seen this years ago!!! I am trying to figure out why it would get 9 down-votes! You mentioned in reply to an earlier comment that you also pay attention to each block as it is made, checking for square-ness, and all along as you complete the quilt top. I find pressing and starching a great aid in keeping things flat, not-stretched, and square. Does it help at all to make your borders 1/2" wider than needed (and chalk that line as you do not need to quilt over it) so that there is extra fabric to lose during the final squaring?

i lay my quilt on a huge table and just move the self healing mat around under it so I can get the majority of the quilt spread out super flat before i cut. we are all working in small spaces 🙃

Quick question.. (but first thank you for a great video! Well done!) I typically don't put borders on my quilts and wasn't sure what reference points you used on the quilt without borders? My quilts typically have more seams in the blocks than the one you demonstrated with (so more chances of them not being square! 😮) and wonder if I should just do the best I can or if there's another tip you might have? Thanks so much! 😊

I would pick a point in the pieced blocks and use that point to square it from, similar to how I did the second quilt. Thanks so much for watching!
