Yes! Visual clutter is huge. Every time someone walks into my house, they always mention how clean it is. Less clutter makes your house appear clean AND it’s easier to keep clean

So great!! Minimalism has been the absolute best treatment for someone with ADD and struggles with executive function. It is a slow progress. I’m 59 years old, three grown children and three grands and a large home. That’s a lot of STUFF!!! Sold the home and moved into a two bedroom apartment and slowly, little by little making others happy with a lot of great things that now overwhelm me. ❤️❤️

I love animals, but they do cost money , make a mess, cause stress. But I find them as important as anything you said in your video. They show love and can teach people and kids so much joy. And they are part of the universe like we are. They are worth it. Good video.

They do cost money, but also do children, businesses, etc... It's a form of love and service. I always say this: there's plenty of things to save money on, love and service are not one of them. So save a pet, receive and give the love and companionship and you'll find out that "spending" money with them is so much more worth than "saving money" just for the sake of it.

I've been a minimalist since I was a teenager in the 80's. I've raised my son this way. I carried him on my back until he was age 3 and rode everywhere on my bike with him sitting behind me in a kiddy seat. I used cloth nappies, wee wipes, made all our clothes etc. There was nobody doing any of this when he was born(2008) now I see it is trendy. I used to be a bush walker in my 20's so I learned to live on what I could only carry on my back (15kg). I lived overseas by myself age 20-24. The only furniture I owned was a bed, a wardrobe, a couch, a bookstand and a 14 inch television sitting on top of it. My home today has no decorations in it. I regularly do a purge once a year, as my husband likes to collect things whereas I get rid of them!

I am 62 and grew up in the yuppie - dink (dual income no kids) era. I have been a maxinista my whole life. Suddenly, I have found your channel and Madison Gray’s channel and am being thought provoked into minimalism - as painful as it is getting rid of things from the physical aspect - my mind and lifestyle is becoming much clearer. You keep mentioning " not having the budget". I just think this is sensible living whether we have a budget for more or not! I embrace minimalism because it feels great to live simply with only the things that add some value to my life. ( I just wish I could get my wife to get onboard with this). Thanks so much for sharing this list!

I enjoyed your video and I agree with everything except for pets. Pets are not objects. They are living creature. You can't put them in a list of products you don't buy. Additionally, they may have some expenses, which are not a lot, but they well worth every penny spent. As you love your children so much, do them a favour and bring them a four-legged companion. They will become better kids, they will learn so much from them and you'll change their whole childhood for the better.

To balance hormones, boil 1.5 Tbsp each of cumin, coriander, n fennel seeds into 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil n leave on stove for bit n shut off. I do double batch, let cool n then strain n keep in fridge covered. I drink like a tea, heated up. It's kinda gross but get used to it. Look up Ayurveda medicine, is how I found natural way to balance hormones.

Visual clutter ............ OMG yes!!!!!!!!!! I love decorating for Christmas. Love it!!!! BUUUUUUT when we finally started taking it down (just this past week. Seasonal depression, working full time, 2 small kids, etc) it was literally a breath of fresh air. The house almost feels "empty" but in a good way. I literally look around and it almost feels like we're moving out, especially with the storage boxes not in the attic yet lol! My husband said "Do you want me to bring down the Spring boxes while I'm in the attic?" I said "NOOOOO!!!!! Not yet." I want to enjoy the newfound reset, and decide what I REALLY want to keep and display.

I am similar with you on the nails 🤩 The natural color of nails are so pretty. Idk why so many people are so obsessed with designing their nails to the point they are wasting a lot of money. I also don't like long nails. Besides of the fear of ripping them off. I have scratched my face many times with my untrimmed nails. Not even long nails but untrimmed nails. I still feel the scratch texture on my skin when I touch it. I really love the first one tbh because I can totally relate with you on the nail part. Same with number two lol So many women waste too much money on makeup. I am fine without wearing makeup. If I would wear makeup, I would only have the basic and would not waste money on it.

I was over the top with everything few years ago. And then I started practising minimalism and in few years this is what I did. I moved in a 200sq feet apartment. I use only furniture that I need. No decor except few pictures on the wall. I have few purses and I use mainly backpack. No more plastic bags. I use one brand shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Wood toothbrush. I commit to wear 2 brands of clothing, one for underwear, one for the rest, no fast fashion. 2 snickears, plus one for the gym, 1 winter shoes and 1 for summer. I have separate bins for plastic, glass, paper and general trash and it's all recycling(in my country we have to separate trash). I sell my books and kept only my favourite ones. I stock up with fresh food once a week and I eat everything, no waste. Here we can return plastic bottles and cans and receive small amount of money so I recycle those too. Everything I own can be put in 3 suitcases. I find this lifestyle more enjoyable, less stressful, I still have nice clothes, I still eat in the restaurants, I travel often and now I even have more money for such things. I don't have kids so I can afford this lifestyle and it's not for everyone just to make clear.

I do keep a roll or two of real paper towels on hand for things that absolutely require it (i.e. absorbing grease from bacon, things like that), but honestly, I love these things and I love not spending the $$ every month.

Just some advice from an older mom with kids off to college. When children are young, avoid taking them to any stores is too much stimulation. They want to touch everything. Children need to be trained to be good by default. Never bribed to be good if they are bad, they need to be corrected immediately with love But never bribed that is a very bad lesson to teach and it will make your children unmanageable which will be very hard on you. It will also make them unmanageable for other people because they are just doing what they feel like they want to do children want boundaries treats are for when they got a shot or something awful like having to eat disgusting medicine that’s when you off for the dollar tree toy

Lovely video. Thank you so much for sharing. As you mentioned the nut butter, I went to the cabinet and just got mine out. I am spooning it out of the jar :D I don't buy them often but when I do, they do not last long. We have an osmosis filter at home so no need for bottled water. If for some reason we do need to buy it (forgot our reusable water at home), we get glass ones. Plastic bottles are horrible. The thing is, it depends on where you live. Here in Germany you go to the supermarket and almost half of the drinks they offer come in glass bottles. When I go visit family in Spain, 99.9% is plastic. I have two thermo bottles: 1 L for €40 and 0.5 L for € 20. Bought them a couple of years ago, you can use them all year long and do not need anything else. Sometimes I wonder if I should get rid of glasses and just drink out of them. Btw, I love how you use jars as glasses :) Buying used stuff is great. We give it a second, third, fourth life and we do not make companies rich at the expense of the environment or other human beings. Clothes, furniture, books... It is so easy to make your own cleaning products. A little bit of distilled water, white vinegar, a couple of drops of some essential oil and there you go. You do not need anything else. I have that bottle and clean the whole house with that. I eat plant-based, which saves up a looooot of money too. Normally do not wear make-up. I am a sucker for backpacks tho. I got about 7 in several different sizes. I know, I know, it is ridiculous. 2 for travelling (1 is a 30 to 32 L backpack, the other is the one that fits under the seat when you fly), 2 for daily life (for a bit of a change), a 7 L one if I need to take a couple of documents somewhere instead of bringing the bigger ones. Another I use in winter when I go out but might resell it. There is one in the basement that I ruined with red pesto oil so my roommate uses it to travel himself. One I have home in Spain. I have been on the minimalism journey since 2017 or 18 and I am still not where I would like to be but one day. Thanks for sharing! You have such a soothing, calming voice.

That you got this helpful video, as always. I would really like to see your minimal phone, purse/wallet scenario and calendar/planner set up. Struggling in those three areas. Thank you 😊

So much yes!!!!!!!!!!! Great video!!!! Loved it! So similar. Dr bronners has so many uses as well. Love Earthley products. And toxic toothpaste. We don't keep any Tylenol and such in our house for my husband, me, nor our 3 boys.

First time here as well from Australia. Fantastic vlog, am packing up my life in boxes at the moment & am horrified at how much stuff I have. Even found clothing in my wardrobe with tags attached. Shoes from a holiday in Hawaii I've never worn. Journals & notebooks. A box full of Tarot & Oracle cards (only ever use 2 packs) Linen, white only some still in packaging the quality that can't be brought these days. I could go on & on. The only thing on your list I couldn't live without is the coffee but everything else I agree with. A neighbour recently brought me chicken soup as I had the virus over xmas. Although much appreciated, unknown to her I couldn't eat it - was in a Tupperware bowl that must be at least 40 years old yellowing lid & what had been I think a pale blue colour with the inside plastic all stained & scratched. Just horrific & there would be no point in telling her how dangerous it is to use as she loves her microwave & the containers required. Another item I haven't used or had for over 15 years. All in storage with the rest of my life but haven't missed it at all. Amazing what you actually can live without. Am so excited to watch past & future posts of yours

Thanks so much! This was actually one of my favorite videos of this topic! You helped me think through some areas that have been just outside of my focus.

What a great video. Thank you so much. I got into buying make-up last year, just to restore some self-care routines, which I haven't been good at and I let my health go. It was good for some time, but most of it sits on the shelf b/c I don't like a lot of make up. Thanks for recommending the natural brand. I will check them out. VISUAL CLUTTER is definitely a thing. I live in Canada (I hope I can find an equivalent of Perfect Supplements here b/c otherwise shipping would be expensive) anyway, there's a city here called Oakville and they have a bylaw of no billboards. They did a study that people get super stressed when bombarded by constant billboards. So, the citizens voted and it's an actual bylaw now. Lemon balm tea is good for sleep.

Thanks for another inspiring video! We have a lot of the same things we no longer buy and it’s encouraging to know there are more of us out there! I did just order some concealer samples and a mango color pot (in jam) from Araza. I rarely buy makeup and only use concealer, blush, and mascara but it’s hard to spend money on. However I decided today was the day! I’m sure the stuff I’ve been using isn’t great for my skin and it wears off so quickly. I used the discount code on your website and it feels like a gift from myself and from you. Thank you! I can’t wait to try it!

Young lady, don't concern yourself with what others think about you. If you purposefully share your personal best ideas or thoughts, then you have done well. Do you as best as God has given you to do.🌹🌹

So I hear in European countries. I love that! I was born and raised in the US and my simple living journey is pretty much “unlearning” everything that I thought was normal to have/need/want. I love hearing about how others live in different countries. It inspires me Most!
