I so appreciate Dr. Amen's gentle discussion here. As a 46-year-old woman diagnosed with BPD 20 years ago, this is a breath of fresh air and so encouraging.

My heart goes out to her. She reminds me so much of myself. I was finally diagnosed with autism at 43, 1+ year ago, after years of being misdiagnosed. I didnt know I had a lot of sensory issues that caused most of my anxiety. I didnt know because thats all I knew. I started using coping mechanisms for neurodivergence and it changed my life. She should look into neurodivergence and/or highly sensitive people and see if anything sounds familiar to her because she has a lot of traits. Neurotypical coping mechanisms dont work with neurodivergent people and sometimes do more harm and more trauma. I hope she finds peace. This is awful to live like this. Wish her the best. ❤

what do solutions look like for neurodivergent people (if you don't mind my asking)
@seaofsolace Жыл бұрын
@@anastasiabrien4038 NT are big on exposure therapy and I dont think it is a good strategy for ND. Usually it is due to sensory overload and exposure therapy just makes it worse. In my case, anything that soothe my nervous system and limit the sensory input helps a lot. I hope it answered your question. :)

Thank you for being so vulnerable and transparent. It helped me understand my daughter better and what she is going through. People that have helped me from severe childhood trauma, are Lisa Bilyeu ( Women of Impact) Jay Shetty, Terri Cole. Dr. Ramani and Ross Rosenberg, Dr. Amen. They are very interesting, knowledgeable and experienced people to interview. Best of luck for your future and for changing your brain. I’ll try out the recommendations given in this video.

I like that proactive type of people, they are full of ideas, energy, just need to put in the right environment. its like a balloon, needs certain speed to fly, otherwise lands on the ground. not sure if its trauma originated, I have many similar features, but to be honest, she seems as someone to put in a wise, active purpose based environment- and will smash with happiness.

If a person is cutting for enorphins then why would you give them a medication that stops pain relief??? The logical answer is to alleviate the pain which is causing this behaviour...

I think psychiatry has a long way to go. They are always pushing medication that they don't really know anything about. Thwy are always labeling. I found it so hard to watch this.
