Marichyasana-Iyengar Yoga
In Hindu philosophy Marichyasana, named after the sage Marichi, son of the Creator, Brahma. Marichi was the grandfather of Surya (the Sun God).
This 12 minutes Iyengar Yoga sequence is best for waking up the abdominal area, whether you are a beginner, you want to have an abdominal stretch, or if you are looking for twists yoga poses to energize the body. This Iyengar yoga sequence is beginner-friendly, and it’s perfect for when you are feeling stiffness in the neck and shoulders, back pain, need a spinal stretch, or simply need to have a short yoga class to have more energy to recharge towards the later afternoon. The asanas in this class include Marichyasana I and Marichyasana III. These are two of the sitting lateral twisting poses. This class is demonstrated by Juan Carlos, certified in introductory level 2 and led by Senior Iyengar teacher Kathy Cook.
