I have watched a few podcasts with Dr. Lisa Mosconi ie Diary of a CEO/Rich Roll but neither brought the best out of her research on Brain health 30yr - 60yrs for women. Marie Forleo brings out the positives rather than adding to the scaremongering frenzy that's going on out there. We certainly do have a choice in a positive lifestyle which affects how we age. 'you get a new brain' Cant wait for the manopause research to catch up !

If either of these Women knew much about menopause they wouldn’t talk so casually about it. 80% of women have moderate to severe symptoms. How will you exercise when your joints are killing you? And you only sleep a couple of hours a night? Seriously? You’re talking about women who might only have mild symptoms but what about the majority of us? We’re struggling. And you don’t go “through” menopause. Once you’re done with the transition - hellish or mild - you’re left with a body totally depleted of hormones. Whereas the guys only have a steady slow decline. Try being in the middle of making a point and your brain stops. As a woman you instantly lose credibility, not to mention self esteem. I never knew much about menopause and definitely didn’t expect anything bad at all. So my mindset was great. I always ate well, I love fruits and veggies. I loved hiking and going to the gym. Have a loving family. Until one week my whole life as I knew it changed. I all over sudden couldn’t sleep more than 3 or 4 hours. My brain totally stopped working. My whole Body hurt. I gained ten pounds in one month. I thought I had some serious disease and went to a half dozen docs. It took several weeks until I was diagnosed. And on the road to being diagnosed I had to endure all the crappy comments from you have to eat less to mediate blah blah. As if I had brought this on myself. Thankfully I have a husband who saw what was happening to me. He supported me and saw all the gaslighting going on at the docs offices. You assume we’re all thinking about menopause. We don’t. We just live our lives. Some women never feel much. Maybe they’ll get mean or depressed. But the rest of us has to change jobs or give up working all together. Or even go on disability. Because that’s what it turns out to be for many of us, disability. Depending on what study you read the population in nursing homes is about 80% women. Due to fragility and brain issues. Women age abiut 20% faster than men. Just look at men and women of the same age side by side. Unless the woman undergoes all sorts of treatments or procedures. She will look a lot older than men of the same age. And talking about men. The reason women don’t give a f anymore after menopause is because now they have comparatively a lot of testosterone and no or little estrogen. We sort of turn into men who generally never gave much a f to begin with lol. Anyway I think we’re doing women a great disfavor by withholding very important. Information. At least you mentioned hormone replacement at the end. On a practical note, if you join any meno groups on FB you will see that the second wave of sufferers join in their early sixties. They might’ve sailed through peri but because we age so much faster they’ll eventual look for help. While all along the men in their 50s and 60s still enjoy their careers gains and lives for the most part. I have two brothers and a husband in my life. None of them experience anything even close to what I’ve been through. Yes it’s interesting about what the female brain goes through but out society as a whole doesn’t give a f. We need solutions to keep our brains going. That’s the bottom line. And that’s probably hrt and if you want to have a long career and working life.
@justbeegreen4 ай бұрын
This! I’m appalled at the minuscule amount of research and services for women - including the lack of information out there - meanwhile our capitalist culture considers aging a problem - so instead of creating solutions and help, women are marketed BS products for ANTI aging - Botox vs aging well. It shouldn’t be this way in 2024. 😡 Also, are these solutions ACCESSIBLE for all women regardless of socio-économic status ? Is there an Alzheimer’s Prevention clinic in every state ? If so, are they covered by insurance ?

My brain is very susceptible to changes in food. For the past ten years (starting at age 50), I have been eating a Paleo/keto diet. I started doing it to put ulcerative colitis in remission, but amazingly, I found out it changed my mood and behavior in astonishing ways. After two years, I was exposed to mold and had to switch to an AIP diet. While I wish I could tolerate eggs, nuts, seeds, chocolate and coffee, I feel AMAZING. Here’s what I do each day or several times a week: Exercise 6x/week (strength training and walking) Meditate daily for 30 minutes Eat a calorie deficit keto diet (lots of beef 🥩) Use an infrared sauna 3-4x week Do a water enema 3x week I also take B vitamins to support homocysteine levels, along with typical supplements. I drink matcha and green tea and water ONLY! I take magnesium every night before bed and sleep SUPER well. 😊

It has playing on my mind though what a difficult and torturous journey the next 10 years may be. How fortuitous the universe threw this video in front of me today of all days, when I actually had a rare chance where I would make the time to watch it in full. All I can say is has been life changing! My outlook of possible misery for the next 10 years has changed to metamorphosis and an upgrade into a brand new me. I am not delusional, I am aware it will likely suck arse a lot of the time but this mind shift to upgrading not just suffering and aging I think will really help me through the hard times. I don't usually comment on KZbin, but I'll share my experience that you can use for whatever future benefit it may provide. The hell that I went through seven years ago and I'm listening to this podcast thinking...was all peri-menopause related? I had major back pain, my stomach was a mess, I was crying all the time, depression / anxiety, could not sleep to save my life, I could not look after my kids. I had all the tests. Everything came back as "normal" - thank goodness. I went to the emergency multiple times. I was 45. My MALE doctor at one point said "you might want to consider medication", meaning an SSRI. I had an adverse reaction to one he put me on (it almost killed me and I went to emergency). I ended up checking myself in to a mental health hospital and I was there for three weeks. I was put on another SSRI and things slowly stabilized. But the weight gain, drop in sex drive....I'm really angry that no one considered a change in hormones / peri-menopause as a huge possibility. Anyhow, here we are. Now I can read this book and consider how to live my most Strong and nutritionally sound self. Just a thought: You should go on The View. Spread the good work / word!! Japanese term for "(peri)menopause",Ko-nenki (更年期) does not mean "renewed energy". It simply stands for "change- age - phase". It comes from English/Greek "climacteric". Not as catchy as "renewed energy" unfortunately! You are probably confusing it with a different Ki (気)= energy. Same sound, different word!
@v9b23j2 ай бұрын
Ko-nenki (更年期 on average between 45 and 55 years old)literally means, "FURTHER AGING PHASE," not "renewed energy phase".And after Ko-nenki is Ro-nenki (老年期 on average late 50s and onwards)which means old age. Menopause in Japanese is heikei(閉経) . Menopausal symptoms are referred to as Konenki shogai (更年期障害)which literally means obstacles during the change of age phase, euphemism for menopause. In Japan, menopausal symptoms of chronic fatigue and frozen/stiff shoulders are more commonly reported than hot flashes. Recently, psychological symptoms i.e. depression and anxiety are becoming more prominent in addition to physical symptoms, according to Dr. Kiyoshi Takamatsu, Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tokyo Dental College, Ichikawa General Hospital. Some studies show that Japanese women show milder menopausal symptoms which maybe attributed to their daily consumption of soy products rich in estrogen i.e. soy sauce, edamame, tofu, miso, natto, over their lives.

I'm 54 and had a complete hysterectomy at age 27. My body doesn't like HRT. I went decades without using hrt and then tried again in my late 40's. Even the bio identical hormones didn't help me.

“Your brain makes its own decisions.” Consistency in healthy habits matter. Hydration for brain health. Brain is profoundly connected to ovaries. Antioxidants. Blk.water, minty chlorophyll. Bio-individuality = do your best for your body and lifestyle. Red or black rice. Almonds. Eggs Warm water for hydration Exercise combo: cardio + strength + flexibility Konenki = Japanese word for menopause “renewed energy”

Italy does produce cold meats and salamis that are only preserved with salt and have no sulphur dioxide, as well as South African biltong recipe only involves using salt and coriander but you must check the label. Some people cheat using sugar and preservatives.

Active Music-Making, like playing the piano can regenerate neurons in the brain...so you are wrong when you say that the brain cannot regenerate new neurons after they were damaged.
@annieboerner84354 ай бұрын
Yes! This was discovered in the 1990’s and there is so much research on how the brain can re-wire and create new dendritic growth *instantly* with the input of music and strategic motor movement. I used to be a neurological therapist and am pretty shocked that she would make that statement. Some of those studies were actually done in Italy, but most in the US. For anyone interested, one of the best and most accessible modalities is “Interactive Metronome” - it’s available everywhere. I’m not being paid by them 😅 just sharing info! ❤

Oh wow! That’s shocking that she says that!! It just goes to show that we’re all flawed-you have to listen to a variety of people, as they all have a lot do truth but also a lot of false beliefs.

I would have liked to hear about the flood of nano tech in food and supplements (that are not required on labeling if the product contains the regular (non nano) ingredient but changed to nano form. Nano is so small they say it crosses the blood brain barrier. Darn, this would have been thee expert to ask......

extra thorn when you wanted to have marriage and family, and are going through menopause grieving the losses that never were. No children. Yes, I know, and I'd be thankful and just as loving to adopt, but that's not the point. My body was meant to house and rear children.....and that is also what comes to the menopause women brain when she is not a modern "feminist' but a TRUE one and would have loved to experience the roses and thorns of pregnancy. I have a lot of medical issues...some are from genetics and structural, more are from medical negligence, so that is another layer. Many look at it is as closing of the door when children already came.....some of us never had it, not by choice
@PeaceIsYeshua3 ай бұрын
@Jac, I am so very sorry you are experiencing that feeling of loss. I chose not to have children, but my heart goes out to those who wanted them. I did want to get married though, and not wanting kids ruled out most men, as most wanted kids. Sometimes I feel sad about that! I pray you’re able to find joy, peace and contentment where you are. And know that you’re not alone-even those with children feel loss, as so many parents have grown kids who pay them no attention at all, or worse, cause them lots of problems. I understand it’s an experience you wanted though, and that’s very valid. Many blessings to you. 🙏🏻❤️

I know exactly how you feel. I wanted children more than anything, but had a myriad of health issues. I feel like I have failed as a woman. I am in acceptance at this point in life. ❤❤❤

It's her job to keep the show going. She is a nice lively contrast to the doctor and makes a dry subject lively. Why do we have to criticize someone for standing out or just being themselves. To make matters worse, we think it's especially OK to criticize women who put themselves out there. So rude!!

Hello Marie, I have a question for your guest. I’ve heard that many women have a negative brain during menopause meaning everything they notice, state, a viewpoint, fear the worst, or an opinion is negative, has this been studied?
@AwakenedVibration4 ай бұрын
She’s studied neuroscience but it’s clear that she is disconnected from water systems, testing agencies etc, toxins, EPA, ASTDR, NSF, WQA, city health department, etc
