Maybe I haven't looked deep enough but I have never encountered truly insufferable fans for Sleep Token the same level as something like Tool, Dream Theater or Slipknot where you don't really need to search long enough to find someone that'll make you wish to never interact with online communities again. Just a bunch of (usually young) fans being very passionate and excited about their music and maybe taking the roleplay part a bit too serious but not enough to rival the age old cringe fanbases

It all comes down to self-awareness, how fun the gimmick is and execution really. Like Alestorm knows they're cringe but the stuff is so fun you can't help but go on the journey with them. Sabaton also gets by because of an authentic love for history that's reflected in their work, even at its cringiest so they're easily "Cringe, but fun" on the list. (I would also add Amon Amarth to that list, as the quintessential viking metal band...that doesn't even call themselves viking metal, its just hyperfocused death metal in their words, lol)

Kiss is still awesome no matter how much goofy stuff they've churned out. For every "Let's Put The X In Sex" there's an "Unholy" or a "War Machine." Pantera is also awesome even though they were practically the equivalent of Macho Man Randy Savage in the metal world. Their feet were firmly planted in nacho dip by the time Reinventing came along. Mustaine sprinkles on a little parmesan here and there but the absolute zenith tier instrumentalism makes them a completely indispensable band. Everything after the Black Album is varying degrees of microwaved Velveeta. I think Sabbath also deserves an honorable mention because Forbidden is cringe in its purest form. No small feat for a band that basically invented the genre.

Man. I was huge into Metalcore back in high school. And the early parkway drive stuff was some of my favorite Metalcore, but when Ire came out… as much as I tried to like it… damn. I could only hold back that cringe for so long, the way they went into that psuedo-rage against the machine/Van Halen hybrid style. It’s like me at 16 trying to be “quirky and unique” just for the sake of being “quirky and unique”. Funny thing is is that I got a copy of behold total rejection by revenge at the time and I ended up getting into that one a lot more, and it got me into war metal in general

Daves attitude can be at times and there extremely fanatical fanboys are most definetly cringe, but music wise, if that is the baseline judgement, i just see them as a very strong and greatly talented thrash band with some pretty weak vocals.

Manowar is the DEFINITION of cringe but fun, if you haven't done it with Pleasure Slave playing then you're still a virgin, same for Based on the Dance Floor. Sabaton is embarrassing octanecore mid-cringe (compare Sabaton/Powerwolf PowerLESS metal to Hail and Kill) and Machine Head's slam poetry alone cringe elevates them above anything else on this list, and HIM isn't cringe at all :( Rest I agree :D

I love the idea of doing horror themed metal, but it’s a bit too… pardon me, but modern day Hot Topic-y But I’m still cringey as hell because I like Slaughter to Prevail, sleep Token, Behemoth 😂 and Cradle of Filth was my first entry level metal band followed by Dimmu Borgir and Opeth, so can’t hate them (obv the latter not up on list, just saying)

I don’t think Skillet is cringe at all. Even though they are a Christian band they travel well with mainstream bands and whether you’re Christian or not their lyrics are powerful and their music and lyrics has helped music fans like myself through depression and addiction. They were my gateway band into metal and helped me explore great rock and metal bands. Having said that this is your honest opinion. But great video. Have a great day 🤘😎🤘🙌

Musically and lyrically they can be repetitive but they have done a lot of good for people and honestly they purposely appeal to a younger audience so they are not trying to be brutal or extreme. People crap on Christian metal a lot but there are legit heavy christian metal bands, they just are not popular because they are to heavy for Christian radio and written off by non-christians. It's a shame because the Bible is as metal as it gets...seriously it is jam packed with blood, gore, violence, apocalyptic imagery, war, cosmic horror, angels and demons, martyrs being tortured and killed for faith, wizards and witches, kings and prophets, plagues, sex, creation and destruction, dragons and huge monsters, giants, THE LAKE OF FIRE, THE ABYSS AND LITERAL ZOMBIES despair and nihilism, hope and victory and theosis....But christian music only focuses on the touchy feely stuff and it gives people the impression that Christian=feminine/weak but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact I would even argue different books of the Bible have their own unique metal genre. Exodus is thrash metal, Job, Jeremiah, lamentations and Ecclesiastes could totally be doom metal, 1st and 2nd Maccabees could totally be a mixture of power and thrash metal. Joshua is brutal death metal, Revelation could be technical Death metal, the gospels and acts have a folk/power metal vibe to them with a touch of doom metal at times. Psalms covers every conceivable genre. Genesis is very prog. Leviticus is 100% death metal. The wisdom books also feel very prog like proverbs, Sirach and wisdom. Judith feels like female deathcore and Tobit is prog concept album. Judges is every type of metal. Ezekiel is pretty doomy but also trippy maybe something like stoner doom could fit it except for the zombie part which feels death metal.

I use to think there was no such thing as mixing Christian and metal but I’ve been a Christian Metal fan for years now and I love how my Christian metal bands also travel with mainstream metal bands and not afraid to spread the word. The horror gimmick is what makes them unique compared to other bands who lack the creativity and just churn out the same stock tracks on every album. Like how are they more cringe than Limp Bizkit? If anything they should be in the same category but that's my opinion
