I agree. She was great in all of her movies, but this one is the absolute best she has done, because she got to do her own acting without someone telling her what to do, and she did a marvelous fantastic job. They had to use four wraths to get through the river scenes. And there were not any body doubles. They, all three, Marilyn, Robert and Little ten year old Tommy W. And, I can say that she was not appreciated or respected like she should have been. They abused her. She is absolutely beautiful after they Comericialized her, but I think that she was absolutely beautiful before, when she was innocent 😇. She is classic, and I have not seen anyone else like her, not even those who try to immatate her.

Marilyn Monroe was very good at expressing a wide range of emotions. She is a very good singer here.

Very fragile breathy light voice and limited range though. Some of her songs were dubbed. Monroe is a classic example of the 'made in hollywood' star. She began to think she was just an illusion without talent. She went into a slow decline and eventually overdosed by mistake on an anxiolytic cocktail.

@@Ayoub-y1w It's not that, people say true negative things about dead people they never met all the time, it's that he's putting feet of clay on a woman of real ability, a woman who took what the studio gave her and made herself into something. If it was just the studio factory she would have been a dime a dozen and instead she was utterly unique. So Canuck 🇨🇦 is even more despicable than you think. Incidentally Marilyn died not from her own mistake but from medical malpractice which was carefully covered over and the secret carried to three people's graves. The world is full of wicked people, but Marilyn was the real deal.

Other side is she was difficult to work with, most the time showed up late, had sleeping problems, took different medications, also did cocaine and had many love relations. She had problems and was exploited sexually. The exploitation of women in Hollywood continues. Marilyn was high maintenance and had spending problems as well. She spent all her husband's money and why they divorced. She was beautiful but an also mixed up person. She had relations with both the Kennedy brothers and others. Mitchum also had a lot of personal problems. Acting is one thing but personal lives another- don't confuse the two by what you see in film. Most actors have a steam of narcissism.

Marilyn is the only star whom women love as much as men. She was capable of being a dramatic actress but didn’t live long enough to act in those. Her range of expression is so huge. Pity her beauty so overwhelmed her long list of talents, singing, dancing, perfect comedic timing, vocal expression, even her walking is reminiscent of Charlie Chaplain. Walking into the saloon, feeling like a loser, Marilyn is a superb actress.

No, I think it's more that during her life straight men loved her more than women did, and now years after her death women and gay men love her more than straight men do.

I dont know about that. I would say Dolly Parton is as loved by women as men

They distribute Oscars left right n centre these days... Why can't they give one to this beautiful lady who was a trend setter... There was no one like her before her and she singlehandedly reached superstardom on an international level when what to talk of social media, people didn't even have TVs in their homes... To have that kinda reach is enough reason to award her with an Oscar... The actors and actresses coming after her learned from her example and her mistakes... She set a precedence for the future starts and starlets... and I'm disappointed that she is not recognized by the industry she gave glamour and history to...

Nice song and so deep really as life is the river of no return. We can never go back to someone or something we left behind and if we try we find people and things have changed and are not as we remember them. So we must go ahead forward as there is no return really. Sometimes I have wished to be young again but of course that is not possible. I have thought what I could have done had I had the wisdom I have now. But as they say youth is wasted on the young and there is no way to retrieve it. So instead of lamenting what we lost move ahead and do the best we can with the knowledge we have now that we did not have then.

Beautiful and wise words, Jorge Mario Rodas. One thing we can achieve is live while young at heart. That's what makes one forget age and admire having deserved our wrinkles. The soul transfers them to our body ;)

A wonderful example of early stereophonic sound recording. (Listen with headphones). You can almost reach out and touch the background vocalists. This was recorded I believe in the fall of 1953. RCA began recording classical tracks in stereo around February 1954 with Decca, Columbia, Mercury and others following suit in the spring and into 1955. Pop stereo recording began in earnest with some labels in 1956 with RCA doing so by early 57.

Yeah, she's got IT. I guess that's what separates the great entertainers from the normal entertainers. They just keep your attention every second they are onscreen. Hard to define, but you know it when you see it.

Nobody sings like her, so emotional and heartful with pure deep voice, even Whitney Houston could not compete. And her astonishing beauty... she is a real Goddess! Never returned a second Goddess since then.

ALEKSANDER POLAND

Marilyn 😇💜 was an incredible and very talented actress, singer, dancer, writer /poet & an amazing lady. Unfortunately, she had a sad 😢 and a hard 😲😦 life. I enjoyed the movie 📀 "the river of no return." I wish people could see how talented marilyn 😇💗 is.
