Cilic played top 5 tennis here. Went for a winner the first opportunity in every rally & it paid off most of the match but Rafa was too good that day. The people who say US open has been slowed down are just morons look at how Cilic was able to hit winner after winner in the 1st 3 sets the only thing is that when you're that aggressive you tend to make more errors... that's part & parcel of the game! Cilic was using more power and less brain to beat Nadal here. Thats not how you beat Nadal man. Cilic winners are so clean that Nadal was not even trying to run. There is no use of such winners. Nadal would have won this match even if he had lost first two sets. He was looking fresh even at the end of the match. If the Croatian cant try drop shots and make Nadal run more there will be hardly any chance for him against Nadal. In many recent matches against Rafa, Cilic actually won the 1st set and still lost them. And still he didnt learn anything from those losses

The only problem with Nadal's game is that he stands too far away from the baseline in order to return serves. And I think that is what gives Federer and Djokovic the edge over him in those later years of the rivalry. But if Nadal was standing closer to the baseline like he did during the ealier years, he'd still be dominating them both.
