Great video. I was a former Marine in Okinawa in the 80s (I use to party at the E-club in Kadena) and now in the US Army in Korea. I am a Chief Warrant Officer with 26 years in service and three combat tours. My next assignment is my last. Keep it up and stay in as long as you can. Semper Fi.

It's so funny because both of my parents served in the military as Marines and I told them I wanted to join the military, but I wanted to go Air Force . They weren't all for it but like you guys said it's what I want to do and I have a reason for wanting to go Air Force, just like they had a reason to go Marines. I don't have anything against the Marines, how could I? I Was born into it Lol.

Can somebody enlighten me on why people laugh at people in the Airforce, what type of IDIOT would willingly choose to go die in a stupid ass war? Going to die for a country /government that gives two shits for them
@Unmedicated_Moments
@Unmedicated_Moments 8 жыл бұрын
+Addison Sarter They aren't choosing to go die. They are serving their country and showing that they would truly die for it. Some go for the experience, some go for the brotherhood. All do it because they love their country. Airmen typically get desk jobs and sit around all day. They aren't risking their lives. Pilots, Jtac, and Pararescue do though. That's small compared to the Army and Marine MOSs that put your life on the line.
@JohnZ2023

+Old glory I appreciate the answer, but somebody like myself who can't afford college at the moment and would like to get it paid for by joining the military but at the same time doesn't wanna risk their life for a country that shows they don't care about veterans/ or doesn't doesn't wanna risk their lives dying for a war they don't believe in, is not "weak or a pussy" I think it's simply called being "smart".

Not true. Entry level PT standards for the Marine Corps are 1.5mi in under 13:30. 2 pull ups. And 44 crunches 2mins. Regular PT eval is 3mi 22mins, 25 pull ups/ 2min flexed arm hang, and 150 crunches under 2mins.

I was an E-3 Aviation Supply Clerk 6672. Best advice you can do to move up the rank is keep your nose clean, stay out of trouble, do your MCI's and know your job inside out. Private to Lance Corpal is easy. Once you hit E-4 you have to go on Boards with several other soldiers. Board members select who is more deserving on promotion

I really like this vlog. I've already watched it twice strait through, because I'm struggling to decide if Marine or Airforce best suits me. I hope you can make videos with you two showing the pros & cons of each lifestyle. To me it seems marines are cool in the military scene and airforce is cool in the life-style scene. I don't like how pay is the same even if marines are treated like dirt while they risk their lives, while airforce keeps clean without touching the battleground. Where does this all weigh equally? What keeps marines motivated even if inequality treated?
@ChiefTomcat
@ChiefTomcat 8 жыл бұрын
+Hakujin Mike No all Marine's are in the middle of the battlefield. Every branch of service has support guys and guys who are on the frontlines. Every branch has jobs that are easier than others and jobs that are suckier than others. I was an F-16 crew chief in the Air Force and we had to work 12 hour shifts and be out in the cold or heat getting jets in the air. I wasn't on the frontline, but we took a lot of indirect fire on the base. Being lower ranked you'll pretty much always get the sucky job, but as you progress and gain rank you can make the difference in how subordinates are treated. I got out as a Staff Sergeant, I never forgot where I came from and I always treated the guys with the respect that they deserved. Hope this helps a little.

It depends on what you want to do. The Army has more careers but you will most likely be deployed longer. The Navy has shorter deployments(correct me if I'm wrong) but has fewer jobs(again, correct me if I'm wrong) and you will be most likely be deployed on a ship. So, there are a few variables. But if you want to take the combat route(but not infantry), Artillery or Military Police would be best if you want to see combat but not go to infantry. For Navy, Corpsman(medic in the Navy, can be deployed w/ Marines) is a good choice. If you want to be an officer, you might be able to join an ANGLICO. It's a group of mostly marines w/ some Navy officers that calls in air/artillery.

That’s crazy. I’m here because my aunt is either an E-7 or E-8 in the Air Force and my dad was in the Marines but luckily got out right before 9/11. My name is Tyler and my brothers name is Kyle haha. Thank you for all the info with the Air Force, I have to wait until Monday to scheduled another ASVAB!

Watching this video makes me hopeful, but a bit depressed as well. I really do hope I get into the Air Force. Been going on two weeks waiting to hear back about my vision waiver.(myopia) Heard it's gonna take a while to hear back, so my life is on hold right now. I didn't expect to get DQ'd for my vision, so now I'm unemployed and not attending college this spring semester. Regardless, the whole experience from the recruiter to MEPS was incredible.

For now man, all you can do is enjoy life with your family and friends, cuz when the time comes. Its gonna be hard, you won't see your family as much. You will be home sick, its hard. It does take a while so have patience and live life before BMT.

I'm in the same boat man except I have a waiver for something else. I didn't enroll for spring semester at my university and I the job I had was provided by the school so i'm also jobless. I just hope everything works out because I feel like I've been waiting forever

As for Reservists, we have a lot of opportunities for full time work. It can be more than 2 days a month depending on your job. Also more opportunities to cross train, more signing bonuses and you’re stationed in your State. Study for the ASVAB get a high score and you will have more job picks. Oh, you also get to pick your job. It is what you make it.

The thing about the TV is Soooo true, my wife had us get one not because we needed it but because uhhh hmmm(cough) WE wanted it. Great vid. Watched the whole thing an enjoyed the cat as well, you guys are lucky to be stationed so closely to one another.
