However, with FPTP probably less than 100,000 voters have the power to change the government, i.e. those in marginal seats who switch parties. If disenchanted Tory voters spread their vote amongst two or more alternative parties, Labour will get in. If they all vote for the same alternative party, they stand a better chance of getting a seat, or at least sending a clearer message to the main parties, especially the one they've deserted. Currently the Reform Party seems to be the most likely to benefit from the Tories' failures. I live in a safe Labour seat so I have the luxury of not having to worry about such things as tactical voting; the chances of this seat changing hands is less than the chance of Liz Truss being voted PM of the century.

Sadly, the French have had more than one opportunity to vote Macron out, and have failed to do so. It`s a long time until the next election and by then they`ll be waving there white flags again and voting for Macron. It`s what they do.
